‘Save Ralph’ Teaser: Humane Society International Aims To Combat Animal Testing With Starry Stop-Motion Short

A still from Humane Society International's upcoming animated short 'Save Ralph'

EXCLUSIVE: Deadline has your first look at animated short Save Ralph, which Humane Society International is releasing on April 6.

The stop-motion piece, written and directed by Spencer Susser (Hesher), follows HSI spokesbunny Ralph (Oscar winner Taika Waititi), as he’s interviewed about his daily routine as a lab “tester.”

Presenting to viewers with a swollen eye and a bandaged ear, Ralph stands in as a representative for his species—and for creatures of all kinds—spotlighting the disturbing nature and devastating impact of cosmetic animal testing.

Conceived as part of the #SaveRalph campaign, which aims to help ban animal testing, globally, the documentary-style short also features the voices of Ricky Gervais, Zac Efron, Olivia Munn, Tricia Helfer and Pom Klementieff.

HSI, Jeff Vespa and puppet maker Andy Gent’s Arch Model Studio produced Save Ralph. In order to bring the message behind its affiliated campaign to a global audience, the film will also be dubbed in Spanish, French, Portuguese and Vietnamese, with actors like Rodrigo Santoro stepping in to lend their voices.
