The Skillman Technical Assistance Center (TAC) is the community practice arm of the University of Michigan School of Social Work taking theory to action at the neighborhood level. The Center is dedicated to establishing and promoting socially just communities, and deploys its interventions to support Detroit residents and stakeholders as they work to strengthen and improve their neighborhoods.

The TAC is guided by the belief that the assets and strengths in communities can be mobilized to affect power dynamics and characteristics of neighborhoods. Training, support and the infusion of university resources, if leveraged in a responsive and respectful way, have the power to magnify these inherent capabilities.
