Abstract
Police violence is a persistent epidemic plaguing many parts of America for a couple centuries. Police violence is a public health problem. The main principles of public health are to prevent, promote, and protect which is quite similar to the goals of the police. This article analyzes how we can mathematically identify cities and countries at risk for police violence. Analysis of eight selected countries show Brazil with the highest risk and Iceland with the lowest. As for six selected US cities, Chicago had the highest risk while Boise had the lowest. The results of the analysis can push stakeholders to proactively begin interventions for such departments and cities to prevent both systemic structural violence and major incidents of police violence, which when they reach the media bring negative attention to a city and police department.
