Current services available
Due to the on-going COVID-19 situation we are predominantly supplying chapters and articles from e-books or e-journals. Only a handful of our usual suppliers are able to make scans from physical items at this time. We are currently unable to borrow whole books or journals.
Delivery times will be longer than usual due to pressures on the supplying libraries and not everything will be available.
Contact us through our enhanced virtual enquiry desk, Ask DULib. Search our FAQs, email us, or chat with a librarian.
Ask DULib is available to all students, staff and users.
Use the “item type” menu on the form to tell us what you want, such as a book, journal or thesis, then select a “delivery option” to say how you want it delivering to you. When you select “scan and deliver” as a delivery option, give details of the book chapter, or journal article you want copying and make sure to agree to the copyright declaration.
Not all delivery options on the form will be available, for example, whole books borrowed from another library via ILL will need to be collected from the Bill Bryson Library (some will be confined to the library), so Postal Loans will not be possible. If you ask for a delivery option which is not available, then we contact you to discuss alternative solutions.
- Check our catalogue to confirm that the book or journal is not available in our library.
- Check the internet. A quick internet search can find review papers, open access journals, government publications and old books, which are out of copyright.
