Iranian Kurdish PJAK rebels deny ties to Israel  2.10.2011

BERLIN, — The Iranian Kurdish Party of Free Life for Kurdistan (PJAK) denied reports that its operations in and against Iran were supported by Israel.

Iranian media outlets repeatedly accused Kurdish PJAK rebels of being trained by Israelis in their safe haven in the Kurdistan Region.

"We have no relations or agreement with Israel," said PJAK leader Rahman Haj Ahmedi, who lives in Germany.

On the other hand, there was a alliance between the U.S., Turkey and Iran to fight the Kurdish rebels, Ahmedi said.

Turkey would get surveillance information about Kurdish hide-outs through U.S. drone operations. Turkey would then share these information with Iran, Ahmedi claimed

Finally, Ahmedi criticized Kurdistan Region's President Massoud Barzani and asked what his party had done that had hurt Kurdistan.

Barzani had called on PJAK and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) earlier to take the war out of Iraq. "We will not fight against Kurds," Barzani said. "But it is not acceptable for PKK and PJAK to continue forever. They should consider the interests of the Kurdistan Region." Barzani complains that the actions of Kurdish rebels provide Iran and Turkey with an excuse to bomb the Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq.

The Turkish and Iranian military repeatedly attacked bordering areas to fight rebels of PKK its offspring PJAK in their mountainous hide-outs since 2006. Since mid-June, attacks have increased. So far, the air strikes killed 12 people, thousands have fled the area.

The Iranian bombardment of Iraqi Kurdistan’s border areas had continued for 3 months,www.ekurd.netkilling and injuring many civilians and causing damage for dozens of houses and agricultural fields in Iraqi Kurdistan region.

Human Rights Watch said on September 2, that it had evidence that Iran may have deliberately targeted civilians in its offenisve against the rebels.

Kurdish local officials and an NGO in early August reported that more than 200 Iraqi Kurdish families had been forced from their homes by weeks of Iranian shelling of separatist rebel bases in northern Iraq.

The PJAK, or the (Partiya Jiyana Azad a Kurdistane) (Party of Free Life of Kurdistan), is a militant Kurdish nationalist group based in Kurdistan region in Iraq's north that has been carrying out attacks Iranian forces in the Kurdistan Province of Iran (Eastern Kurdistan) and other Kurdish-inhabited areas.

PJAK is a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Confederation (Koma Civaken Kurdistan or KCK), which is an alliance of Kurdish groups and divisions led by an elected Executive Council.

Led by Haji Ahmadi, the PJAK’s objective is to establish a semi-autonomous regional entities or Kurdish federal states in Iran, Turkey and Syria similar to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq.

Since 2004 the PJAK took up arms for self-rule in Kurdistan province northwestern of Iran (Iranian Kurdistan, Eastern Kurdistan). Half the members of PJAK are women. The PJAK has about 3,000 armed militiamen.

Iraq, Iran, Syria and Turkey all have significant ethnic Kurdish minorities. Estimate to 12 million Kurds live in Iran.
