Note that this article is part of a series, please continue reading the Wikinews Chronicle for the remaining articles.

This week, the Wikinews Chronicle begins a series of looking at, and analyzing existing Wikimedia policies. Our focus this week is on the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees Conflict of Interest Policy. This pertains to Wikimedia Board members, and thier votes on official resolutions.

Reading a Wikimedia resolution, you will see votes formated in a way like this: (5/1/2). The first number pertains to the number of users who supported the resolution. The second number is the number of users who opposed the resolution. The third number is the number of users who abstained from voting. Abstination from voting is used when a Board member has a personal reason to vote. If the vote would affect this user personally in any way, then the Board member is prohibbited from voting on it.

These pledges are officially accessable on the Wikimedia Foundation's Board website. The Board website is most likely used to vote on resolutions and discuss private matters, but it is inaccessbale to anyone except Board members. The website can be found here.
