Description

Thousands of youth gathered in Goma, North Kivu province, to celebrate Amani festival. The word “Amani” means “Peace” in Swahili, one of the local languages. The festival, which was organized under the theme “Play for Change and Sing for Peace”, took place in the regional capital of eastern D.R. Congo between 14 and 16 February 2014. The festival aimed at attracting world attention on the plight of the populations in eastern D. R. Congo through music and dance. “We Sing for Peace because it represents our hope for North Kivu. Our people have never wanted peace so badly”, the organizers of the event wrote on their website (www.amanifestival.com). Des milliers de jeunes sont réunis à Goma pour célébrer le festival « Amani » qui signifie « la paix » en Swahili, une des langues de la région. Le festival qui était organisé sous le thème « Danser pour Changer, Chanter pour la Paix », s’est déroulé du 14 au 16 février dans la capitale régionale de l’Est de la R. D. Congo. Il avait pour but d’attirer l’attention du monde sur la condition des populations vivant à l’Est de la R. D. Congo à travers la musique et la danse. « Nous chantons la Paix car elle est notre seul espoir pour le Nord-Kivu et notre population ne l’a jamais autant désirée », ont écrit les initiateurs de ce festival sur leur site web (www.amanifestival.com).
