  • curprev 13:2113:21, 16 October 2023174.48.231.224 talk 39,568 bytes +1,243 added context and alternate attribution to cited opinion that Carthaginian society & governance reforms took place following 1st Punic War. The overwhelming evidence is that Carthage was as divided & ambivalent about the 2nd Punic as it had been about the 1st Punic. The societal & governance changes occurred AFTER the 2nd Punic, not the 1st. undo Tags: Reverted Visual edit Mobile edit Mobile web edit

  • curprev 12:3012:30, 16 October 2023174.48.231.224 talk 38,185 bytes −140 Deleted sentence attributing outbreak of 2nd Punic War to Roman take over of Sardinia. The 2nd Punic began ~20 years after this event. It has no proximate cause (near or far) to Sardinia. (The principal cause of the 2nd Punic was clearly Rome’s jealousy of, and avarice for, Carthage’s prodigious silver mines in mainland Spain.) undo Tags: Reverted Visual edit Mobile edit Mobile web edit
