Carlos Gradin is known for his extensive studies of [[Cueva de las Manos]]. Gradin and his team's study of cave art in and around Cueva de las Manos formed the most important research on the site. Him and his team began excavating the sites in 1964, which marked the beginning of their 30-year-long study.<ref name=":1">{{Cite web|last=Delegación Buenos Aires-MINPRO|title=Cueva de las Manos|url=http://cuevadelasmanos.peritomoreno.tur.ar/|url-status=dead|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120426061322/http://cuevadelasmanos.peritomoreno.tur.ar/|archive-date=April 26, 2012-04-26|access-date=2021-03-21|website=Cueva de las Manos|language=es|publication-place=Perito Moreno, Argentina}}</ref><ref>{{Cite book|last=Schobinger|first=Juan|url=https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/9781315706375|title=The Ancient Americans: a reference guide to the art, culture, and history of pre-Columbian North and South America|date=2016-12-05|publisher=[[Routledge]]|isbn=978-0-7656-8034-1|edition=1st|volume=1|pages=39–44, 57–61, 67 & 70|language=en|translator-last=Evans-Corrales|translator-first=Carys|doi=10.4324/978131570375|oclc=967392115|via=ProQuest Ebook Central}}</ref><ref name=":0">{{Cite conference|title=The Cueva de las Manos, Rio Pinturas WHC Nomination Documentation|url=https://whc.unesco.org/uploads/nominations/936.pdf|conference=Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage}}</ref>
