'''Al-Qadisiyah Governorate''' ({{lang-ar|القادسية ''Al QādisiyyahQādisiyah''}}) (or '''QadisiyyahQadisiyah Province''') is one of the [[Governorates of Iraq|provinces]] of [[Iraq]]. It is in the center-south of the country. Its capital is [[Al Diwaniyah]]. Before 1976, it was part of the ad-DiwāniyyahDiwāniyah Governorate, along with [[Al Muthanna Governorate|al-Muthannā Governorate]] and [[Najaf Governorate]]. The province is named after the historical city of [[Al-QādisiyyahQādisiyah (historical city)|Al-QādisiyyahQādisiyah]]; the site of the [[Battle of al-QādisiyyahQādisiyah]], where in 636 CE the [[Islam]]ic [[Rashidun Caliphate|Rashidun]] forces defeated the forces of the [[Sassanid Empire]].
