'''Governorate councils''' are elected assemblies in Jordan. The concept was founded by a 2015 [[decentralization]] law, and will be first established during the [[Jordanian local elections, 2017|2017 local elections]] held on 15 August. The governorate council consists of 381 members and of 158 districts. 85% of the council seats are elected, while 15% are appointed by the central government.
