This is actually a fairly notable event in Australia's history - when I get some time I'll actively contribute (there seems to be quite a few article on it around the web). - G 06:45, 6 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

A Book which delves deeply into an analysis of the event is called The shearers' war : the story of the 1891 shearers' strike by Stuart Svenson and published 1989, UOQ Press. Have to dig this out from my collection to review and add to this article.

Created a redirect from "1894 Australian shearers strike" which is listed on the most wanted pages list due to some amazing number of inbound links. Not sure I did this correctly (newbie alert!) but figure it should clear a most wanted article item that is really a typo issue.

Somebody who knows what they are doing needs to do a global edit to get the possessive plural fix onto all the typos. Cheers! Here.it.comes.again 02:28, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

1956 Shearers' Strike edit

Does the 1956 Strike warrant a page as well? Not sure how significant it was. I think it was the back drop to Sunday Too Far Away.--Moonlight Mile 05:57, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

The '56 strike is certainly significant enough to warrant an article on its own, let alone as the basis for the film (though you might need to verify that, as I think the film is set in 1955 in SA). If you're prepared to write it, I'd say go for it.--cj | talk 23:39, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
