Possible synthesis edit
Two New York Times articles are cited as sources for The case was the first in the nation to get a conviction for a hate crime involving a transgender victim. Both were written before Andrade's conviction and discuss the use of the hate-crime statute. The April 16, 2009 article was written on the day the trial began and discusses how the case may set a precedent for future handling of hate crimes involving transgender people. Neither directly say the above statement. This case is notable for its legal impact. I've added that section with an expand tag and moved the article info here. momoricks 22:16, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
