to expand from stub edit

JIR will happily supply full information to Wikipedia editors wishing to expand this article from a stub. We refrain from doing it ourselves to avoid a conflict of interest. StarryEye (talk) 21:02, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • I'll help if I can - just point me to good references and I'll see what I can do. :) - Bilby (talk) 12:07, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Right now I think JIR could help by providing a link to their current website. The current link is nonexistent. (It links to a result of "This site does not exist within the LDAP database.") Bonkalicious (talk) 07:55, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Does it still exist? edit

Does it still exist? The website asks for submissions on 3.5-inch floppy and I don't think that's a joke. I can't find anything later than about 2005. - DavidWBrooks (talk) 19:17, 8 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

JIR Lives! Most readers have now received v52#5. One contributor still submits on 3.5-inch floppies and several use typewriters. We also say, jokingly, that we accept submissions on carved tablets, and prohibit copying by "positronic" means. Please ask (my eMail is on the jir.com website) before doing something that damages a real business.

Great to hear it. I've updated the article slightly to reflect this. Is it still in San Mateo? - DavidWBrooks (talk) 17:15, 19 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
You retained the wrong and damaging final sentence that we don't produce new material any more. I am getting queries about that from mis-led readers. Please correct that.
I live and work in an RV. About half of each year I'm around Berkeley, where I teach at UC, and the other half on a scientific tour of the US and Canada. "around Berkeley" is the most accurate description. The printer just moved from Belmont (1 miles S of San Mateo) to San Carlos (2 miles S) but still mails JIR on a San Mateo permit.

Sorry, I overlooked that - I have removed it. - DavidWBrooks (talk) 18:05, 9 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

1994, when he left to ... create the Ig Nobel Prize. edit

Clearly a contentious issue, but since the IgNobles celebrated their 20th anniversary in 1910, and the Ig Noble wikipedia page dates them to 1991, perhaps he didn't create the Ig Nobel Prize in 1994 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.188.74.60 (talk) 03:06, 22 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
