In Medieval times the throne of Solomon was associated with Mary. The ivory of the throne represented purity, the gold represented divinity and the six steps of the throne stood for the six virtues. There's that "passive of attribution" again. A quote would lend weight and color to such a statement. Without it, this sounds like the "Language of the Flowers." Wetman 03:02, 16 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Altar-and-throne edit
The article mentions ecclesiastical thrones, but it should also mention the expression altar-and-throne, which is the name given to the pre-Revolutionary regimes in Catholic Europe, which were characterized by a close collaboration between the royalty and the papacy, such as in the Holy Roman Empire. Empty "Islam" section edit
The section heading "Throne" "Islam" has been completely empty, except for a link to Al-Baqara 255, since this edit in 2011, more than six years ago. There's no reason for the empty section to have persisted for this long.
