Consensus can be wrong. Alfred Lothar Wegener's theorie (1 November 1880 – November 1930) of continental drift (1912) could have failed 1939, if Alfred Rittmann (IAVCEI President 1954-1963) did not defend the theorie with his observation, raising doubts. Still, only 1968 did the Earth Siences paradigm changed; gravity anomaly survey, sonar survey and geomagnetic survey were needed to nail it.

The Geophysicists had problems with no driving force and a deformable/ movable crust in such a large scale. The unifying theory of Einstein's general relativity and Planck's quantum mechanics needs more dimensions than energy, volume and time. But the human in vitro fertilisation is not checking the offspring.
Edwin Hubble
- He discovered (1929) that v (velocity) = H (Hubble constant) x d (distance). But Georges Lemaître publicized it 1927, much later Hubble could have told that the priority belonged to Lemaître. Lemaître told that he used Vesto Slipher's velocities, Hubble didn't. Lemaître believed in an expanding universe, Hubble didn't. Hubble classified the galaxies (1926), his correspondence cites the work of John Reynolds (astronomer), but his publications don't cite Reynolds.

Gerta Keller states that the K/T extinction event took 2 Ma and that the Chicxulub hit was 300,000 years earlier. But consensus tries to block challenges to Chicxulub hypothesis. Gerta Keller and Vincent Courtillot do not agree with Chicxulub as a single cause, they believe rather in multiple causes, e.g.: global marine regression, Chicxulub hit, Shiva hit, Deccan flood basalts. Many extinction events are related to marine regressions and flood basalts.
