Name edit

My user name, ἐπερωτῶν, comes from a Greek verb meaning to question, inquire, consult. I like to question statements, inquire into subjects, and consult the sources.

Activity edit

Though I'm an engineer by trade, my editing interests lie mainly in the humanities and social sciences. I'm currently concentrating on Islam-related articles, since many important ones among them have much room for improvement. My goal is to use the best modern scholarship and in this way reflect the complexity of the Islamic civilization, educating myself in the process. In other words, I found an excuse to read a few books I've been wanting to read for a long time.

Did you know edit

Did you know

On 20 July 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Litham, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that among the Tuareg people, men traditionally wear a veil called a litham or tagulmust, while women go unveiled? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Litham. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Litham), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

On 19 September 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Fatwa, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that when Osama bin Laden issued his 1998 fatwa proclaiming jihad against the U.S. and its allies, many Islamic jurists stressed that he was not qualified either to proclaim jihad or to issue a fatwa? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Fatwa. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Fatwa), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
