Look up authoritative in Wiktionary, the free dictionary.
Thank you for your edit to Mutiny, but I'm sorry but I have had to revert it. "Authoritative" is not the appropriate word in that context but the distinction is very subtle. "Authority figure" is indeed poor grammar but widely understood to mean "a person in a position of authority", but I have rewritten the sentence to make it more gramatical for readers with English as a second language.
