Welcome, B.D.Will!

Hello B.D.Will, welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like it here and stick around. If you want, you can drop us a note at Wikipedia:New user log to introduce yourself.

Before you start doing a lot of editing, you might want to take the Tutorial. It gives a lot of basic info you'll want to get you oriented on Wikipedia, and comes highly recommended.

Here're some handy links:

  • Help:Contents is the list of all of the information you need to use Wikipedia. Wikipedia's Help desk is the best place to ask questions to which you can't find the answers. Also, a lot more good information is at Meta, which is often more up-to-date (as Meta is where information that pertains to all of the different Wikimedia projects, such as editing help, is stored and modified). Meta's Help section is located at m:Help:Contents, and more information about it can be found at Wikipedia:Meta and m:Meta:About.
  • Wikipedia:How to edit a page gives editing help. Whenever you're editing a page, there'll be a link to it below the editing box and to the right of the "Save page" and "Preview" buttons, for easier access.
  • Wikipedia:Manual of Style gives formatting information.
  • Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines tell about the principles we operate on. It's important, but you don't need to read it all at once. Our five most important tenets are listed under Wikipedia:Five pillars, and there's an easier-to-read version of Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines at Wikipedia:Simplified Ruleset. Our privacy policy is at Wikipedia:Privacy policy.
  • Wikipedia:Show preview explains how to double-check your edits before saving, an important feature. This allows you to see how edits you have made will look once you save the page and give you an opportunity to correct mistakes before submitting your changes.

Remember to sign your name on talk pages by typing " ~~~ " for your username and " ~~~~ " for your username and a timestamp (which is generally preferred). The software will automatically convert this upon saving the page.

If you have any questions, please ask me on my talk page. I'll answer if I'm here. If you like, you can ask here, on your own talk page (for your own easier reference), but please let me know by posting a note on my talk page saying that you've replied.

Take care, and good wiki-ing, Blackcap (talk) (vandalfighters, take a look) 23:34, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

Template:User browser:Firefox

As I explained in my edit summary (which I recommend you use), it turns out that the other icon is an apparent copyright violation. Please do not revert again. —David Levy 13:01, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Alright. B.D.Will 13:12, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! —David Levy 13:15, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Also you may want to read the talk page discussions about linking to the Fx article from its icon. I've reverted the click link until there's a consensus to do so. --LBMixPro<Speak|on|it!> 09:25, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

Alright. Sorry. B.D.Will 09:42, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

Support Palestinian Independence User Box

Do what you like, I just borrowed it from someone else too. Though I have difficulty understanding how you can also support Israel's right to exist, as it is located in occupied areas of Palestine.

I support the right of Israel to exist, without occupying the Palestinian territories. Ie., I don't want it obliterated (not to imply that you do).

But, I also support the right of the Palestinian territories to be independent. B.D.Will 10:01, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

You replied to the wrong person, me (re: Meerkat)

Greetings. I think you have misread Talk:San Jose, California#Bad Image and replied to me instead of User:Niteowlneils (the person who struck out at you and then struck out literally his message).

I am just an innocent bystander who replied below all that, that I took it upon myself to fix the image.

Could you please edit my talk page and remove your message? -- Mareklug talk 03:55, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Request for semi-protection

I think the vandalism has stopped now, so I think it's fine to keep the article unprotected for now. FireFoxT [10:55, 3 April 2006]

Hey Bill D!

Hey, what's up? I noticed the ULMB wiki was receiving hits from the snopes article on here, and I just wanna say thanks for writing the section on the forums and for linking to my wiki.

Oh, BTW, I reinstalled the ULMB wiki completly, starting over, and changing the skin. How does it look? --Darkdan 03:38, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thank you for creating the fanfiction userbox. Lkjhgfdsa 20:22, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

A little error...

Hi Bill, just thought I'd throw your eyes upon this edit for future reference ;) [1] --Kwekubo 18:06, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Userbox realname

I noticed the additions of the "realname" userboxes earlier (I added a couple and have the page on watch for some reason) ... while your userbox works, I'm not sure it's obvious enough for someone who isn't familiar with templates. Have you considered making pre-gendered versions of these and putting them in the regular template space? Granted, that's not as much fun as your userbox code.

(I +watch for replies on pages I comment on!) ~Kylu (u|t) 23:24, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the prompt reply! If you're interested in having someone to collaborate with for new userboxes, please let me know! Just a warning, I bet I can drown you with new userbox ideas. :)
As far as template-space goes, I added a couple userboxes from Wikipedia:Do not insult the vandals to template space (and posted them on Wikipedia:Userboxes/Wikipedia and the source (WP:BNTV)) and have yet to hear any comments at all on the matter. I'd considered them "obvious, why hadn't anyone done this before?" changes, and being Bold, but I imagine if people start using your userboxes and you agreed, we could move them to main template space and redirect temporarily.
Depending on if you'd want the help, of course! :D ~Kylu (u|t) 01:02, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

A better Userbox

Notice nicer wording (queer is slang, and is mean. I have gay friends, and they prefer not to be called "queer.")

Old

This user is a supporter of the LGBT community, and sees nothing wrong with being queer.

New

This user is a supporter of the LGBT community, and sees nothing wrong with being homosexual.

OR
