    • One of the most famous early family members was John Crabbe (fl.1305-1352), a Flemish merchant, pirate and soldier. He defended Berwick Castle for the Scots against English forces in 1318, but after being captured by the English in 1332, he then assisted the English when they again besieged at Berwick in 1333. As an engineer, he was in charge of the siege machine, causing "sore problems" for the English defenders of the Castle. In that year, the Count of Flanders committed to the King that if he caught John Crabbe he would hang him for 'murder'. However, this same John Crabbe was a much sought after commander, and King Robert the Bruce rewarded him with lands in Auchmolen, Auchterrony, and Prescoby, for his services with his siege machine. In 1332, John Crabbe also assisted Bruce in the siege of Perth. The same person became high on the political scale of the Scottish nation, and his sept branched into many directions. He treated with the English for the release of Earl David of Huntingdon, and ultimately obtained his release for him to become King David of Scotland. The name flourished for the next few centuries on their many estates.

    • There is no causal connection. The only correlation with each incident is the Observer (me). Many times the subject is out-dated and has no viable reason to be mentioned. Once newsworthy in its time, it has been years since it exists in the present. Past<--->Present<--->Future
1.-Mention of John Wilkes Booth in a Trump tweet and a story on NPR about John Wilkes Booth later that day.
2.-Mention of a LifeSpring "safe fall" in discussion w/ Gandy (first time in a long time of even remembering the incident) and then the song lyrics "whose gonna catch you when you fall' by The Cars play on the radio on the way to Javy's later that same morning (I rarely listen to 93.1)
3.-Return Rachel Maddow book to the Library and then that very same book title is at the very visible top of the Donations Bin available for me to own.
4.-AUG19 - In the morning I tweet about a guy and 3 women bringing a dog to Boris Johnson at #10 Downing street and joke that they looked like Tony Orlando and Dawn (2 Women) and then Gerry and the Pacemakers (AllMen) then Steve Seattle and the SeaShells. Later that night Gerry and the Pacemakers are mentioned in passing on a late night show (I think Colbert)
5.-SEPT19 - Retweet a video of Jane Goodall releasing an ape and getting a hug. A week later comes a recruiting letter from the Jane Goodall Institute.
6.-Jay Portillo from California and Ricky Portillo's half-sister, Esa, wind up in a Chgo subsurb hospital for two unrelated incidents and meet each other in the Emergency Room Intake at the exact same time. One hears the others name over the speaker. They barely know each other
7.-Darius, the RCN technician, comes to fix the connection to the internet. I pick up a book to read while he works--one that Cathy has suggested, Gone but not Forgotten. Don't know anything about it. Lead character, in the first chapter, is named....wait for it....Darius!

12.-September/2022. On the way home from LWW we listen to a PBS interview with Roger Payne, famed collector of Songs of the Humpback Whales rather than Howard or music. Later that night we start to randomly watch Netflix's Extraordinary Attorney Woo, a South Korean series about an autistic lawyer that uses her fantasizing about Whales as a driving plot directive. Had trouble getting on Netflix. It would have been easier to watch something else...but therein lies the unexplainable happenstance. This may be a foreshadowing of our FEB/2023 trip to see the Grey Whales in Mexico.
13.-January/2023. Tom Hanks is a guest on The Cobert Show. I think of "Wilson" the soccer ball from Castaway. Later that evening is a news story about some rioters somewhere, [[Brazil}}?, and they shove a soccer ball in the image of Wilson at the camera.
14.-April/2023...At LWW. An old Peach crossword puzzle from the mailbox has a clue, "The _____ Donahue Show" but I cannot get the answer because I have misspelled "Niece" as the down clue and all I can think about is TROY Donahue. Frustrated with my inability to get an easy name, I ask Cathy and she confirms its PHIL and I see my mistake. Later that day, on the way home, we listen to Howard's interview with Brooke Shields and she talks about an old interview by....Phil Donahue.

I get upstairs about 1:15 and start the OUTS. The very first book I touch, May I Walk You Home? (Courage and comfort for the caregivers of the dying), is about gleanings for the caregivers to the dying. I pass it on to Jim.
    16. -July 12/2023... Amy and Eddie GMA and I start to plan a 4-day get-together weekend at LWW to celebrate my and Matts BDay and Lukes approaching BDay. We will most likely need to pitch a tent to provide enough sleeping situations. Lo and behold... the Guy across the alley from John's is moving and getting rid of stuff. What does he put out for someone, anyone, to have? Two almost new Field and Stream sleeping bags. 5 minutes later they would be gone!!!! Also a very nice suit of clothes that I wear to Timmy's wedding on New Years Eve. The Universe Supports Us!!!!!!!

    A little help? edit

Hi Buster7, I need a little help. A New Page Reviewer has been bugging me for some time about the 2020 Q2 timeline of Trump's presidency, and has nominated the page for speedy deletion under A3 (empty page w/no content) for CSD. Would you mind backing me up here? The timeline doesn't start until April 1 (there is no way the timeline can have content as April 1 hasn't even started yet), and I would rather not have to contest the deletion at this time. Thank you so much for your help. Mgasparin (talk) 00:09, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

    Never mind, it's been resolved. Mgasparin (talk) 03:18, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Mgasparin: Yes, I saw the minor kerfuffle in progress. That is when I made that "undo" editing mistake the other day. I was about to comment but then thought.."Why escalate into a battle what seems to be on the road to being resolved?" I would have commented that it was much ado about nothing (by the other editor) and he should just "bridle his pony" and wait a day or two. Isn't there a slang term from Freudian psychoanalysis that describes someone "who pays such attention to detail that it becomes an obsession" and goes around here and there and does things that may be an annoyance to others? Something to do with early toilet training. Anyway, Happy April Fools Day. I hope your sheltering-in-place is going well. ―Buster7  07:06, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I agree. Editors with pedantic or overly dogmatic behaviour do drive me insane. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ I did ask that in the spirit of IAR he leave it alone, but to no avail. Ah well, it's over now. There is no "shelter-in-place" here in BC, but there the government here does ask that people stay indoors as much as possible. I really can't wait for this social distancing ordeal to be over. Getting back to routine will be nice, once it happens.   Mgasparin (talk) 08:03, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Pence on TC's Jan6 comments edit

    • "I was there at the Capitol, and let me assure you it was not, as some would have us believe, a matter of tourists peacefully enjoying our Capitol" Pence said at the Gridiron Club dinner in Washington, D.C on March 13, 2023
    • "Make no mistake about it — what happened that day was a disgrace and it mocks decency to portray it in any other way."
    • "President Trump was wrong," Pence said pointedly, adding that he had "no right to overturn the election. His reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day, and I know history will hold Donald Trump accountable."
    • Pence continued on to disprove portrayals of those involved in the Jan. 6 riot as “tourists,” saying “tourists don’t injure 140 police officers by sightseeing; tourists don’t break down doors to get to the Speaker of the House or voice threats against public officials.”
    • "The American people have a right to know what took place at the Capitol on Jan6," he said.
    • "I expect members of the Fourth Estate to continue to do their job"

Over 350 individual editors have received an EDDY award. This week the 150+ members of the Wikipedia:WikiProject COVID-19 have been chosen as recipients. In the past, some of you have visited the recipients talk page and offered your congratulations and your personal "pat on the back for a job well done". Well!!! This week you can thank 150 editors all at the same time and place. Let's reach out to this Associate Project and thank them for their efforts and their high standards of expectations from each other. Editing these type of "Hot Topic" articles is not for the meek and mild as we all know. Please take a second and reach out to them. ―Buster7  16:47, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Editor of the Week : nominations needed! edit

The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.

The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up a citation.

Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:50, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Buster could you help me write up a request for EoftheW for User:Ozzie10aaaa. We worked together as co-editors for the West Africa Ebola article and I know that he works with and contributes to our medical articles with, I think, one GA article. I know that there is a way to bring up an editors main works page, but I don't know how to do it. The cats out of the bag
Well it looks like the cat is out of the bag on this one!--I never dreamed that Ozzie had your page on his watch list.. Now as for your fine compliment, I wish I could see myself that way. Perhaps I am better than I think but I truly have to work very hard with my edits/wording and am ever so grateful that we have a fine copy editor that is interested in many of the same articles that I work on and follows me around. So anyway, I'm not anything special as an editor and neither is Ozzie. But there is more to this place than being able to write the best copy and that is knowing how to work with others and create a joyful atmosphere to work in. That is a real talent and one that Ozzie excels in. Gandydancer (talk) 16:07, 9 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Looks to me like you just wrote the highlights of his nomination. All we need to do is a little research, see what others (aside from ourself) say about him, find a few appropriate adjectives and "Bob's yer Uncle. I just love Bob's your uncle. I use it whenever possible. Of course here in the States I get the strangest of looks and comments. But that's all right.
Above you ask about an editors work page and how to bring it up. Go to a User page. Any non-IP User page. Click on "User Contributions" in the menu on the left. Go to the bottom of the page and click "Edit count". Again, Bob's your uncleBuster7  21:08, 9 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

OK, I checked it out and am not sure about this copy: This quote from his page says it all: There is more to this place than being able to write the best copy and that is knowing how to work with others and create a joyful atmosphere to work in.Gandydancer (talk) This is not from my talk page nor is it from his. Also, about the "he doesn't do drama" bit, actually while that is true he is the first one to offer an opinion or support when it is asked for. I have seen this again and again that he brings issues to the Med discussion page and offers his stand at AfCs. So, all in all, I think it best to just skip that. (Re the cat, more later but no it's not mine though it looks about as mad as my beloved and now deceased Ruffie must have been after all that I put her through.) Gandydancer (talk) 16:37, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
OK..I'll make the changes you suggest. No prob. But...you should know that when I find an editor with 75% of their efforts devoted to creating and molding articles and under 10% of their edits on talk pages I know that they do not engage in arguing etc. They are to busy working. But its just a personal little comment I like to make when I can for effect. I'll check on where i saw the quote. Is it on his User page???―Buster7  22:43, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
I couldn't disagree more. For example there is a discussion going on right now at the Abortion article, an article that I've worked on for many years. I've spent hours and hours reading and discussing at that article about the wording for the lead--we are talking about just a few words here, not some big change. The last big blowup was several years ago but it goes on all the time. It is easy enough to sit back and say "I agree with xxx" and then you could say oh look low talk page edit count! But how difficult it is to wade in and present one's thoughts and the reasons behind those thoughts. And then reading pages and pages of the thoughts of others, and then responding to them. And on and on. It is hell. But if editors do not constantly work on that article (and many, many such articles) the so-called pro lifers would rob women of their right to choose in a heartbeat. And people do quote Wikipedia to back up their arguments. I know that before the last big lead change (though it was only a few words, if that) Catholics and other religious groups had been using our article to back their position. I for one call those editors that use our talk pages to argue article content the backbone of and hope for the accuracy of our project. I do not mean to criticize Ozzie for not taking part in the discussions--he is better at other ways to help this project. We are all different with different talents. Gandydancer (talk) 23:37, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Sorry Gandy but you misinterpret my Use of the word Drama. Lets stick w/ Ozzie as my example of what I mean when I say "No Drama here". When you go to page and scroll down you'll see a big circle segmented into "namespace totals" for the editors work which is displayed in percentages. When I am vetting an editor for the award, one of the more important things I look for is where is the editor spending their time. Are they working or are they talking? 80,368 of Ozzies 104,458 total edits are to articles or 76.9%. Article talk, user talk and other user talk amount to about 15%. I think high talk percentages are a clue to lots of chatter, lots of over-discussing. So... its just a clue or a hint (to me) that someone like Ozzie does not spend a lot of energy arguing. Or, to use my words, doesnt spend their time creating "drama". I could be wrong about using the percentages as a barometer...that's always a possibility. But I think the NameSpace Totals give me a window into the work habits of an editor that, most of the time, I know very little about other than what the nominator and perhaps seconds tell me.
Please don't get me wrong Gandy. I'm not saying you're wrong about blow-ups and draw-out discussions that happen all the time especially at "Hot" articles and topics. Remember: I cut my teeth at Sarah Palin in 2008 and worked with you at the various BP oil spill articles. You mention the Abortion article above and how OZ doesn't contribute to the battle to add (or remove) stuff. Maybe that is not his forte'. Like you say we are all different with different talents. Be Safe. Wear a Mask. See ya on the other side of this virus thing. ―Buster7  05:53, 11 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Buster, thanks for the explanation and I do understand, however I think we still may tend to disagree. For example in the many controversial articles on Trump, editor SPECIFICO writes thousands of talk page words using WP policy links to demonstrate things that I am in total agreement with but am not such a policy expert. She only very seldomly adds article page edits. But I am eternally grateful that at AfCs and such I can just say "per xxx and xxx". Like you, I don't like to argue and will only do it when I have no choice. At any rate, I do tend to bristle when an editor talks about TP edits as though they are not a good thing (though I understand that I did not exactly understand your position). Anyway, moving forward here's the deal on Ozzie: He knows how to cooperate. Ozzie and I worked together on the Ebola article and he did all the looking for new information and he posted it to the article. He didn't go to the talk page and ask for "permission", and why should he? We had both become experts of a sort on Ebola. But on the other hand I felt completely free to reword some of his edits and regularly pare off old information to make room for the new--and I didn't ask TP or Ozzie's permission either... So that is what I mean--his ego is strong enough that he does not feel a need to defend his every edit and is able to work with others for the benefit of the project. Like you Buster, he is not Mr.macho and that's a good thing. Gandydancer (talk) 18:37, 12 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

    Trump presidency timelines edit

Hi Buster, we are fast approaching the end of the 1st term of Trump's presidency. If he is not re-elected, how do you want to include the final 20 days of his term (January 1-20, 2021)? Do we tack it onto the end of the Q4 timeline or do we make a separate page for those 20 days? I'm unsure. Thanks Mgasparin (talk) 09:02, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Unlike the Trump timeline. the Obama Timeline was per year not in 4 quarters per year. There is a timeline article for the lame duck period, January 2017. Our problem is what do we name it. It's not a quarter. Timeline of the Donald Trump presidency (Jan 2021) works for me.―Buster7  12:05, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Mgasparin: While we are on the subject of the timeline, the next few weeks and the time period after may be extra hectic as to editors wanting to include everything but the Gold "toilettes" at Trump Tower into the New Quarter and the above semi-quarter. Perhaps we should be a bit more lenient than over the last 3+ years. Still diligent but a little more expansive...at least that is what I plan to do. TC. Be Safe in RL. ―Buster7  12:15, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
True, I see that many people have been adding stuff to the timeline that really doesn't belong there. If we add everything that has being going on over the past few weeks into the timeline it will quickly become too long and clumsy. My suggestion is to restrict timeline additions to major events that will be notable not merely this week or next but several years down the road. Also, I like the idea of including Jan 1-20 in the Q4 timeline. Mgasparin (talk) 20:54, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I agree. Ive always thought the Timeline should not be a journal of all the Menasha that goes on (the rallies and what not) but a short capsualization of what will be notable in a decade. But who knows with this president. Its all so topsy-turvy. The Obama timeline was a piece of cake compared to this. ―Buster7  03:15, 5 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Questionable edit at Trump presidency timelines edit

I'm in two minds about this edit. It changes this edit by me which asserted that Biden won the election. This is what RS are saying, and only fringe media sites like the Daily Wire or Breitbart are saying otherwise. Sure, if you want to delve into semantics, Biden has not truly won yet as the EC hasn't met. Are we playing to the Trump supporters by saying that Biden is only projected to win by MSM or should we dispense with the fine print and just say he won? Mgasparin (talk) 03:26, 13 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

    • Currently, when our reader comes for knowledge about the daily "Who won?" situation, the timeline hints at the ambiguity of the declaration. Soon president-elect Biden will be officially declared as the 46th President. I suggest we wait a bit and let the ambiguity linger. I debate with myself about mentioning the Administrations stance on "the transition" and "the daily intelligence briefings" and the blatant disregard for normalcy. But that can come after the Biden Administration is 100% official...which should be soon. Fingers and toes crossed. ―Buster7  12:29, 13 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Pinging @Mgasparin Monitoring the various presidential timeline articles since 2008 has required reverting the occasional (what I felt were...) unconstructive edits that were made to them. Preventing WP:Bloat was always my concern. I never intend to deterred other editors from editing the timelines constructively as long as the descriptive texts remained brief and concise. At times the descriptive texts are used to allow political bias to "creep" into a timeline. I readily admit my own bias but do my utmost to contain it. I guess I just needed to say this somewhere and a user's own talk page is always the best place for that type of admission.―Buster7  16:54, 24 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I get that. Political articles are difficult because we all have our own ideas and feelings about Person X, either positive or negative. Deterring newer editors has never been my goal either, but it does sometimes happen on articles that concern persons who are controversial. You either love or hate Trump; there seems to really be no other option. This really makes it difficult for a lot of people to write about him in an objective manner and keeping their personal feelings about him off Wikipedia. Beautiful (and did you see I found Gandy?!) edit

    Buster,

Feeing quite elated tonight. I hope I’m correct, but I do believe I’ve found out Gandy alive and well. I pinged you to her new account - looks like she got locked out of her Gandy account or something. My heart is soaring. It was a dull ache that didn’t dissipate with time since losing her so many months ago.

Secondly, how beautiful this is, and what a beautiful person you are for posting it to your homepage. I am so glad to know you. ~ Sarah petrarchan47คุ 03:30, 20 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend... Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way round or through it... If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Moving, be like water. Still, be like a mirror. Respond like an echo." --Bruce Lee
Really GREAT news. But I don't think I got the ping. Can you try again? The above quote was a holiday gift years ago by User:Zaereth who shared editing time with Gandy and many others at the Sarah Palin article back in 2008. I am honored to be your WikiFriend. ―Buster7  14:02, 20 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sorry you didn’t get the ping, it’s from the talk page of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/208.117.88.196 - at the bottom of Gandy’s talk page is a section titled “The Waltz”. I looked the contribs of the IP (linked above) and it’s Gandy, judging by articles and timing. If she wanted to make a clean break for whatever reason, I respect that, I’m just elated that she isn’t missing any longer!
I am ever grateful to be your wiki friend too. You’re my anchor to all that was good about editing here. And I’m sure this is true for countless other editors, Buster. Big hugs to you and your wife ~ Happy Thanksgiving!🍽🦃🍖🙏 ~ petrarchan47คุ 17:09, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

The fact that you (and others) took your time to purge this dark cloud from my history is a kindness. The opening of the investigation by the complaining editor was a retaliatory act meant to dissuade me from editing. Thankfully it did not work. ―Buster7  14:23, 17 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
It was my pleasure! :) I enjoy being able to clear up people's records and allow them to have a clean record.
If it makes matters more funny, or interesting, or flat out confusing, we have a CCI under the name of "Buster40004" and somehow, despite 4 and 7 being far apart, I misclicked onto it plenty when searching for the CCI title. That's not even the worst, when there's stuff like "20151115" due to our date formatting. Sennecaster (Chat) 04:53, 18 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

    Editor of the Week edit

      Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

User:Soni submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I remember when we started Editor of the Week, We had bright shining eyes and an enthusiasm to make a positive impact on WikipediaWorld. Almost a full decade has passed, and I recently dropped by the Editor Retention Project only to notice Buster7 (talk · contribs · count · logs) still holding this little niche project of ours together through sheer will and dedication. Hundreds of users and editors have felt personally recognised and better due to Buster's efforts, and surely dozens have continued to edit (or increased their editing) solely because Buster was one of the people to notice they deserved a little recognition. As far as I can tell, he himself has never been nominated for this, simply because of how much of a one-man-army he has been through the last 8 years of Eddy, just keeping up nominations, posting, and keeping regular tabs on every aspect of this Wikiproject, all by himself. More than that, he's a tireless contributor to all of Wikipedia, not just WikiProject Editor Retention or Editor of the Week, with edits spanning back 14 consistent years now. No wonder it seems like he is forever present, making good solid contributions wherever he goes. I can think of no person more deserving of praise for this. This nomination was seconded by User:Eddie891, User:Gog the Mild, User:Theleekycauldron, User:Panini, User:Sennecaster, User:L235, User:Worm That Turned, User:John Cline, User:Nosebagbear, User:Tuckerlieberman and User:Isaacl

    Editor of the Week edit

I recently learned about this great initiative. Now that I know of it, I can think of about 5 to 10 editors who I think deserve it. My reading of the situation is that there is not a lot of nominations. Would you consider it a helpful or an unhelpful thing for me to nominate so many? Any advice on that is welcome. CT55555(talk) 14:48, 18 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much for offering your involvement. Your recent nomination was splendid. The process is simple. The nominations "sit" at the Nomination page for a short period waiting for possible "seconds and thirds". After a week or two I move them to the Accepted Nominations page where they join the queue awaiting the awarding process. At the moment I am just ready to award the first in line this afternoon which will leave 6 nominations; 4 of which I nominated, and your nomination is currently the last in line. 6 in line is a good margin. It relieves the stress of ME having to find a good candidate. I much prefer that working editors nominate the fellow editors that they see in action, doing whatever it is they do to improve the encyclopedia and the arena we work in. I, myself, have a "back-up" list of editors I consider when the line gets too short. If the Queue gets too long, the day of awarding gets too far removed from the initial nomination. I rarely insert an editor into the head of the line except if the nomination is of a timely nature. It doesn't happen often, but then I'm the only one here. Welcome aboard! Check out the Hall of Fame and the Recipient response pages. We started this process of awarding Eddies back in January of 2013. I consider it my legacy. I am open to any assistance you might provide.―Buster7  16:45, 18 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. So what I'm taking from that is that I should nominate a small handful, wait a few weeks, see what the backlog is at, and then add if the backlog remains single digit? CT55555(talk) 16:48, 18 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Right. Lets say "4" is the lowest we want in the queue Also, you might consider visiting the Editor of the Week's talk page the day or two after to offer congratulations. I think it adds mutual participation by the editors that know the recipient. ―Buster7  17:20, 18 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I was just following your advice about pages to review and I noticed that nomination 484 won before in 2022. I was not aware of that when I nominated. Is that a problem? CT55555(talk) 06:16, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
It would not be the first time an editor would receive a second EDDY but this time period is rather short...only a few months. I think it would be best if we remove the nom from accepted for the time being. Good catch. ―Buster7  17:14, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
On a minor terminology note: typically I wouldn't refer to someone who received the Editor of the Week recognition as someone who "won". The idea is that it's a low-key pat on the back (though still a tangible connection between someone who recognizes the recipient's good work and the recipient, which is always gratifying). isaacl (talk) 17:34, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
User:CT55555. Meet Editor isaacl. He is the other "clerk" here at Editor Retention. On the other matter--I received your email and will work on the draft for awarding this week-end. ―Buster7  17:52, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the guidance on the wording. CT55555(talk) 19:14, 22 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Regarding this edit: perhaps instead of "Thoughts & Prayers", the reason could be something like "For dedicated service in support of Wikipedia"? Just a suggestion. isaacl (talk) 21:28, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message. The first place I believe our paths crossed was on the talk page for the article for Tim Raines (which, interestingly, is still the most recent non-bot posted thread on that talk page). This talk page is the first (and sadly not the last) place where I experienced the frustration of being unable to attract others to comment on a disagreement, and thus having the dispute frozen in time, awaiting some future person to do something. As a result, I was a bit wary during our discussion, but happily we were able to communicate effectively and amicably. If everyone were as collaborative as you, I might be a more regular contributor today. I appreciate your dedication at chipping in to support Wikipedia's mission in whatever way you can. Best wishes during this time of reflection and celebration with family and friends, and good luck for the new year! isaacl (talk) 16:11, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

    "Formerly x name" edit

    Hey Buster,

I noticed that one user in the list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/Editor of the Week#Recipients of Editor of the Week aka The Eddy has (formerly x name) next to their name. I noticed there's a lot of users listed by their former name on there, would you be okay with me updating the names on the list where appropriate to their current names, while noting their past one? I'd leave out instances where a user has vanished of course. I'm suggesting this because it'll become easier to search if an editor has already received the award. Additionally, I like the idea that it properly recognizes the user by a name that some may be more familiar with. Hey man im josh (talk) 20:53, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

(pondering emoji) I'm a bit uncertain, because I'm not sure what the recipient would prefer, which will probably depend on why they changed their user name. Nominations edit

Hey Buster. Hope it's not a problem, but this week I worked on a list of users I want to nominate for EotW. I've nominated 5 of them so far, but I have a further 18 on my list. Hope this isn't a problem, but I thought I'd mention it due to a backlog / queue that it may create. Hey man im josh (talk) 22:10, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Right...thanks a lot for the foresight and for your participation at Editor Retention. What we need to consider is other editors that may want to nominate someone. We need to leave them room. If we load up the queue too much it will be Christmas before their nom gets his/her "pat on the back". There are 14 in line: we are good till at least May. Fair enough. I do have two I'd like to tack on though if that's okay, one already written. I can hang tight though if you feel at all strongly about it. Hey man im josh (talk) 22:43, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Fair is fair. The Accepted Noms are like a pot of stew. Lots of chefs want to add their ingredients to the pot. If you and I fill up the pot, there's no room for other chefs. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 22:52, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

    Draft Your Article edit

Good Advice given to me many years ago---Draft your article gradually rather than rushing to get it into Wikipedia. This approach will result in more interesting and coherent content. It also allows you the time to review your work carefully for potential copyright violations. Hope that helps. 18:27, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

    Quotes edit

    • I’m in the studio every day. There is a printer/scanner in there, so it’s also an office. I could be listening to stuff, asking people if they want to do release or creating the radio show, doing features, premiering songs, social media. My studio is in production right now. I just moved into a new place and I’m building it, so it’s very simple. Just a desk with some speakers, a table I use for drawing, the printer/scanner I mentioned, and a microphone for the radio show.

    Donald Trump edit

Friendly reminder to read the notices and warnings above the editing window: The Contentious_topics procedure applies to Donald Trump. "You must follow the bold-revert-discuss cycle if your change is reverted. You may not reinstate your edit until you post a talk page message discussing your edit and have waited 24 hours from the time of this talk page message." You failed to adhere to the procedure with this edit and the source you added here. Please, self-revert.Space4Time3Continuum2x🖖 12:50, 28 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the heads-up. Will do this evening. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 12:57, 28 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Space4Time3Continuum2x: Friendly Reply. All I did was add a comment clarifying what I felt was incorrect evaluation of Trump's seeming number of successful endorsements. The article stated; A majority of candidates endorsed by him won in Republican primary elections. It was inaccurately presented to the reader as if it was some great and unique accomplishment. The source given, (#670), was a New York Times article and required a subscription to be viewed so it could not be easily verified by the reader. In order to provide a more balanced view, I rightfully added: Many of these candidates were either unopposed or incumbents who already held their seats using [3] as a valid reference. You reverted with the summary...Misunderstanding? The content is about the Republican primaries, not the general election. So...the kerfuffle was your misunderstanding. Not mine. The BBC article was about the Republican primaries not the general election. Therefore, I do not find it necessary to self revert. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 05:54, 29 March 2024 (UTC).Reply

I have moved this conversation to the trump talk page. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 13:10, 29 March 2024 (UTC)eReply
