Al Ahed FC kits edit

Hey, how's it going? I've noticed that you've created the kits for Al-Shorta SC on Commons. Can I ask you a favour? Is it possible for you to create Al Ahed FC's 3 kits?

  1. Home (yellow/dark blue): 1, 2, 3
  2. Away (dark blue/light blue): 1, 2
  3. Third (white/purple): 1 (the shirt the GK is wearing), 2

Also, if it's possible to have 2 versions for each kit, one with the AFC Cup champions badge, and one without, it would be great. If it's too much, I understand. Thanks! Nehme1499 (talk) 03:14, 19 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Nehme1499: Of course, I'd be happy to make the kits. I'll try to do them within the next few days. Thanks for the help recently! Hashim-afc (talk) 16:41, 19 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
No problem! Take all the time you need. Nehme1499 (talk) 16:45, 19 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Nehme1499: I've done them now, take a look ;) (couldn't do the AFC patch though.) Hashim-afc (talk) 02:10, 21 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Iraq national football team edit

I checked the 20th goal that RSSSF doesn't list for Hawar Mulla Mohammed and saw that you are indeed correct and that RSSSF is not accurate.

Could you add a more accurate source to use instead / as well, if possible?

Thanks,

Sahib Abbas edit

Hi, where did you find his goal numbers? Nehme1499 22:57, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Nehme1499: Hey, I have counted the number of goals he scored each season using the book "Iraqi Football League History 1974-2011" published by Ali Al-Sabti, which totals up to 177 goals the Iraqi League record. Hashim-afc (talk) 23:02, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Nice. I've added the book as a source under "Bibliography", can you fix it if needed, with the ISBN, page, and other possible details? Thanks. Nehme1499 23:10, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Also, can you please make sure to add the book as a source to all Iraqi players you are amending? Nehme1499 23:11, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Mustafa Saadoon edit

Hi, where did you find that he began at Al-Naft in 2015? The source in the article, written in September 2020, says that "three seasons ago" he moved there, so in 2017. Nehme1499 15:06, 2 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Nehme1499: Hi, see this article from 2015 confirming he signed for Al-Naft from Al-Kahrabaa. I added it to the article. I was following his matches with Al-Naft club since 2015. Also, he didn't play for Al-Jamahir club, the article says he represented the youth teams of Jamahir clubs (referring to Al-Jawiya and Al-Shorta who are known as Jamahir clubs i.e. popular clubs). Hashim-afc (talk) 16:40, 2 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ah ok thanks for the clarification :) Do you think it would be possible to know when he joined Kahrabaa's senior team too? Nehme1499 16:42, 2 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Nehme1499: No problem! It's hard to find a source for when he started at Al-Kahrabaa, I believe it may have been 2013/14 season but can't find a concrete source for it. In May 2014 he posted on his Facebook profile a photo of him playing for what seems to be a different team (here), the photo could be from an earlier year, and I can't make out which team it is as the badge doesn't look familiar. He may have been sent on loan there. Hashim-afc (talk) 17:24, 2 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Gt it, thanks for your help. By the way, we only add national teams in the infobox if the player has played at least one game for them. Nehme1499 17:39, 2 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Iraqi pages edit

Salam Hashim, how are you doing?

Apparently Iraqi league is now considered a professional league by Wikipedia since 2019-20. This means basically any recent player can have his own page. I have a fulltime job and not time like before, but I still try to add some players. First of all the youth players which played in FIFA tournaments, then the AFC tournaments and finally players in the Asian Champions league.

Steel Dogg (talk) 18:18, 14 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Steel Dogg: Salam bro, I'm good Alhamdulilah, hope you're well too. Thanks a lot for the great work in creating Iraqi player pages. Although I'm more busy these days too, especially the last few months, but I will try to help where I can to add info about the players previous clubs and stats. Lebanon Arab Cup kit edit

Hi, could I ask you a favour: could you please do Lebanon's new kit? This is how it looks. Thanks, Nehme1499 20:30, 29 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Nehme1499: Done, have a look and let me know if it's okay! is the away shirt the same but reverse colours? Hashim-afc (talk) 22:47, 29 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Very nicely done, thanks! And yes, logically the away kit should be the same but inverted (though it's not confirmed yet). Worst case scenario we can create it now, and overwrite it in the future in the very unlikely case it isn't as we expected. Nehme1499 22:50, 29 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks again for the away kit! Btw, I've just created an article for Hasan Abdulkareem. Apparently he plays for Al Karkh on loan from Al Shorta, though idk if he's still on loan this season. Can you find some good sources regarding that? Also, is Qoqiah a good translitteration of قوقية‎? Nehme1499 16:23, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Nehme1499: No problem! Yes, Qoqiah would be correct. As far as I know, his move to Al-Karkh was made permanent this summer, which is mentioned in the winwin.com reference. Before that, he was on loan there in 2019/20, returned to Al-Shorta in 2020, and went back on loan to Al-Karkh in 2020/21. Hashim-afc (talk) 16:46, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Perfect. Can you please find sources for him joining Al Karkh on loan (twice), and then moving permanently in summer 2021? Nehme1499 16:50, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

WAFF U-18 edit

Good game today :) A bit unfortunate for us to lose this way though. Our players surely felt the pressure of over 50k Iraqi fans ahahah. Nehme1499 18:27, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Nehme1499: Hard luck :) you played a good game, penalties is always unlucky. I think it was written in the stars that we would win this cup in front of the fans, we waited so long to have an occasion like this in Baghdad! Hopefully these great crowds helped to build the confidence of the players from both teams. Hashim-afc (talk) 19:22, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Iraqi squads edit

Hi Hashim, how are you doing?

Hoping you do well. I wanna work on the Iraqi squads of 1957 - present (Gulf Cup, WAFF etc). First for the NT, then the youth teams. Would you like to help me with it?

Suren01 (talk) 09:05, 8 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Suren01: Hello Suren, you are Steel Dogg previously? Sure I can help, but if we take the 4th Arabian Gulf Cup for example, do you mean to create a page for the squads because then we have to include all the teams and not just Iraq, let me know what you mean. Hashim-afc (talk) 14:22, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi Hashim. Yes that's me! Yeah we have to think about a way to efficiently create pages for squads.. Maybe more Wiki members are needed for this.
Or can we create a new page 'Iraqi squads' where we contain all the squads. Suren01 (talk) 15:41, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Note edit

Hello Hashim-afc

I would like to thank you for the amendments you made to the names of the Iraqi clubs that I created.

I just wanted you to know that some of these names are literally taken from the logo of the same club, and I didn't deal with the name randomly.

Please accept my full appreciation SonOfBasra (talk)

@SonOfBasra: Thank you for the message my friend. It is no problem, usually I try to keep consistent names between clubs, for example if we have Al-Umal SC, then we will have Umal Nineveh SC, etc. And sometimes the clubs have a spelling on their logo which is strange or inaccurate, because they are not fluent in English. I also noticed for example Al-Musayyib club, the club uses a different spelling in its logo than it does for the name of its official club page! But this issue is not so important, the most important thing is to have pages for the clubs and you are doing a fantastic job. Really, you improved the Iraqi football on Wikipedia significantly especially for the lower divisions. Keep up your great work! By the way, if there are any edits I made which you disagree with, you can let me know and we can discuss. Regards, Hashim-afc (talk) 12:19, 20 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
On the contrary I am pleased with the modifications you have made, I just wanted to clarify my position on writing club names in this way, thanks for your reply to my note.SonOfBasra (talk) 12:45, 20 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Uafa club cup logo (2012).png edit

The file File:Uafa club cup logo (2012).png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free former logo being used in a WP:DECORATIVE manner a gallery of former logos in Arab Champions League#Previous logos which fails WP:NFCC#8 and WP:NFG. Non-free former logos can be used as long as their use complies with WP:NFC#cite_note-4 and this almost always means the logo itself about the logo and the associated change in brandling that led to its replacement is the subject of sourced critical commentary. Simply adding the logo to "show" what it looks like is not considered sufficient to satisfy WP:NFC#CS, except in cases where the logo is being used for primary identification purposes at the top of or in the main infobox of an article about the organization the logo represents.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:01, 9 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Deletion Iraqi articles edit

Hello Hashim, how are you doing? Hope you're fine

I just wanted to say I'm really surprised by the action of the Wiki mods recently. Players who are capped which are being deleted?? For which reason?? Players like Shihab Razzaq should have their own page right.

We should confront them when it comes to these players. I managed to create Ahmed Basil's page under his third name but we shouldnt allow this to happen. And please be careful creating pages for uncapped players.

All the best. Suren01 (talk) 15:25, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Suren01: Hello my friend, I hope you are well too. Yes, I noticed that as well. The problem is, the guidelines for the notability of football players in Wikipedia (WP:NFOOTY) changed recently and that's why many new pages are being deleted. Now, per WP:GNG and WP:SPORTCRIT, players are only notable if they have "significant coverage, that is, multiple published, non-trivial secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject". Players are also notable "if they have achieved success in a major international competition at the highest level". I don't know why this change was made and I don't agree with it but if you check Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shihab Razzaq you will see that is the reason why the page was deleted. Going forward, when we create new player pages we have to include as many sources as possible, i.e. any articles about the player, any interviews, etc, especially from major websites will be helpful. Hashim-afc (talk) 16:20, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi Hashim. Oh wow. I used to create articles with sources like Soccerway or Goalzz. I will be extra careful then.
My main focus nowadays is to create squad pages (like the Gulf Cup squads). I think it's important to archive all the squads we've had, in major tournaments and friendly tournaments like WAFF and Gulf Cup.
I'll leave the players pages to you and the others then.
All the best. Suren01 (talk) 16:25, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Standard layout and formatting of honours edit

Hi there. Thanks for updating Sherko Karim. Going forward, please use the standard layout and formatting as outlined at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players which is the result of past discussions of the community of football editors at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football. Specifically, there should no "Club", "International", etc. sub-headings. I've removed them at Sherko Karim. Also, if you could add an WP:inline citation for the Iraq honour, that would be great. Iraq Stars League edit

Salam bro. How you doing? Question: Is it the same league under a new name or a new league??? I thought it was the last one.

All the best, Suren01 (talk) 16:49, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Suren01: Salam bro I'm doing well, and you? I don't think it is an entirely new league - it is just the first season of the league under the professional system. If you see other leagues in the region, Saudi Pro League (founded in 1976, became professional in 2007), UAE Pro League (founded in 1973, became professional in 2007), Oman Professional League (founded in 1976, became professional in 2013), all of those leagues are still considered the same league before professionalism and after professionalism, so it makes sense to follow the same convention. Also, the Iraqi league has gone through much bigger changes in the past (e.g. 2000–01 season the whole league system was changed and restarted from the beginning with qualifying matches between every team in the country) but we still considered it to be continuation of the same league each time there was a change. Im doing fine bro thx. Ah, alright. Makes sense now.

Ethnic competitions and FIFA edit

FIFA bans ethnic competitions, why you don't want to let informations[1][2][3][4][5] ? Wokemanwhowalks (talk) 22:09, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Wokemanwhowalks: Hello, thank you for your message. FIFA does not "ban ethnic competitions". FIFA has published numerous articles on its official website about competitions organised by UAFA. See here for an example where FIFA published an entire article reviewing the 2012 Arab Cup. Another example here where FIFA published about the 2012–13 UAFA Club Cup and here where FIFA published about the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup. FIFA themselves also organised the latest edition of the Arab Cup in 2021, which they considered to be a continuation of the competition organised by UAFA (see here). Hence, it is clear that FIFA does not "ban" such competitions, and there is no source to support this claim at all. I have now added several different sources to the article from FIFA.com and The-AFC.com which reference the UAFA and its competitions directly. The source you have provided (FIFA Ethics Code) does not say anything about UAFA within it. I hope this clears the situation up for you. Please can you not add this claim back into the article otherwise I will have to ask for the page to be protected. Thank you! Hashim-afc (talk) 22:24, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Factually, the UAFA is not a FIFA association, FIFA was a partner in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup since then this is no longer the case (like U20 Arab cup, Football at the 2023 Arab Games, 2022 Arab Cup U-17, 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup...) and previous editions are not affiliated with FIFA. Therefore specifying that the UAFA is not an association affiliated with FIFA except for the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup, is obligatory and relevant. By the way, FIFA bans ethnic competitions and others, it's written in its ethic code "Discrimination of any kind against a country, private person or group of people on account of race, ethnic, national or social origin, gender, disability, religion, political opinion or wealth, birth or sexual orientation is STRICTLY PROHIBITED." [5]. Wokemanwhowalks (talk) 23:22, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Wokemanwhowalks: How can FIFA ban ethnic competitions when FIFA organised the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup? Does FIFA ban its own competition? With all due respect, what you are saying makes no sense. FIFA does not say anything about Arab competitions in its Ethics Code and the quote you have provided is completely irrelevant. As I have shown above, FIFA regularly covers UAFA and its competitions on its website, and it has published articles about the 2012 Arab Cup, 2012–13 UAFA Club Cup and 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup which were all exclusively organised by UAFA, hence it clearly recognizes these tournaments. Hashim-afc (talk) 00:36, 23 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
FIFA did this partnership for money and training for World Cup in Qatar, moreover ethnic competitions are discriming, all is sourced. So why was there a partnership only for the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup and independant from AFC and CAF ? Wokemanwhowalks (talk) 00:44, 23 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Wokemanwhowalks: Please take some time to read and understand the guidelines on sourcing on Wikipedia because you do not understand how to source correctly. The FIFA Ethics code does not mention a single word about Arab football competitions, hence this is not a valid source. It has been clearly demonstrated that FIFA recognizes Arab competitions through several different sources I have added to the article which are directly from FIFA.com, hence this matter is closed. Thank you, Hashim-afc (talk) 01:15, 23 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
No it is not recognized because it is not affiliated to FIFA and this is denied by the Algerian and Moroccan federation, in addition the UAFA is an independent association. If you don't want to show good faith, then I will request arbitration. Wokemanwhowalks (talk) 01:19, 23 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I just thought about naming and i would like to know why naming of La Liga or Ligue 1 article is not in agreement with their respective partner EA Sports, Uber Eats ? Wokemanwhowalks (talk) 01:20, 25 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Wokemanwhowalks: EA Sports and Uber Eats are sponsors of Ligue 1. As per WP:FOOTY consensus we do not typically include sponsor names in page titles for several reasons, including that they are temporary and change regularly, and are typically not the commonly used or recognisable name for the competition by sources. By contrast, FIFA is the organiser of the Arab Cup (not a sponsor) and they changed the official name of the tournament to FIFA Arab Cup, hence why that page was moved. Hashim-afc (talk) 01:52, 25 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
"they changed the official name of the tournament to FIFA Arab Cup", they have added FIFA to*, it's totally different or prove this change in all other edtion. Wokemanwhowalks (talk) 02:42, 25 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
