April 2013 edit

Hello, I'm Elizium23. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Talk:The Hunger Games universe without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry: I restored the removed content. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Elizium23 (talk) 00:18, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Finnick Odair edit

I see you finally managed to get Finnick Odair (The Hunger Games) where it belonged. An earlier version is in the page history of Talk:Finnick Odair (The Hunger Games). I have asked an administrator (see here) to merge the page histories of these two pages, but there is no guarantee that this request will be honored. I have also asked an administrator to clean up a bunch of left-over redirects.

I found a third copy and moved it to User:Ken Seh/Finnick Odair. I removed the #redirect that was at the top of the page and the "AFC" templates throughout the page. I left it there rather than ask for it to be deleted in case you wanted to copy any of its contents into Finnick Odair (The Hunger Games). When you are done with it, please blank it then put {{db-user}} in its place. An administrator will delete it within a few hours of you doing that. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:39, 19 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Histmerge declined so I moved the "Talk" page to User:Ken Seh/Finnick Odair (The Hunger Games) so you can rescue anything that needs rescuing before db-user'ing it. Soon the leftover redirect at Talk:Finnick Odair (The Hunger Games) will be deleted and you can put whatever talk-page templates belong on articles about The Hunger Games characters. Please wait for the page to be deleted before adding these. Thankfully, you were the only editor, or I would've had to leave it where it was for copyright attribution reasons. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 00:34, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for May 19 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Finnick Odair (The Hunger Games), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mags (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Speedy deletion nomination of Finnick Odair ''(The Hunger Games character)'' edit

A tag has been placed on Finnick Odair ''(The Hunger Games character)'', requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The speedy deletions edit

This is NOT a request to delete your article. The redirect you created are very unlikely typographical errors so I have requested that they be deleted. I considered making the same request for Finnick Odair (The Hunger Games character) but at least this is a plausible title, as some fictional characters do have First Last (Show Name character) as their title. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 02:36, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Mezzanine 34 Flushing Line.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Mezzanine 34 Flushing Line.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 17:29, 27 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Look before you WP:MOVE edit

Another editor already undid your move of Selena to Selena Quintanilla. Please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia policies related to page names before renaming pages, especially Wikipedia:Article titles.

When in doubt, propose the name on the article's talk page and wait a week or so before renaming the page, and then only if there is a consensus to do so (or complete silence).

Obvious exceptions to the "no need to wait" rule include things like reverting an incorrect rename or renaming a very-recently-created page whose name obviously isn't appropriate to one that is. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 20:00, 10 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Finnick Odair in Catching Fire.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Finnick Odair in Catching Fire.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

Replaceable fair use File:HZ-AIH Saudi Airlines 763.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:HZ-AIH Saudi Airlines 763.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 00:10, 26 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

2019 US Banknote Contest edit

  US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
