Staircase jig edit

Does the edit clarify or disambiguate the part on the horizontal plane under the caption? Is there anything else that you think needs improving or cleaned up? --Johnaldentalk 20:36, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The edit I made makes it clear what meaning of "horizontal" is being considered in the link, since horizontal is a disambiguation page (WP:DPL). In terms of what you can improve, I suggest changing your references to the nice-looking {{cite book}} format, and making sure that the article doesn't look like a how-to, since Wikipedia shouldn't have how-to's (WP:NOT). Any statements which aren't obvious to the average person should ideally have a referenced citation, using the footnote reference system. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 20:51, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi edit

what would u see as an acceptable article? in my opinon(which could be wrong) the rnd riot is a suitable article. perhaps if u do not agree with this u could send a message with what "is" acceptable in wikipedia. many thanks User:MasterEditor99

What I, or rather, the Wikipedia community, sees as acceptable are verifiable articles on notable subjects, written in a neutral point of view. Each of those words links to Wikipedia guidelines and policy about all articles. The "Red nose riot" looks like it's something that happened locally at some school and had little effect outside the school. For example, I would guess that the subject of the article was not covered even in the local newspaper. If it was, however, you could reference that newspaper article to prove both the importance of the event and the reliability of your information - assuming that the source you cite is itself reliable, and the article in the news not trivial (not merely a quick blurb about the event). Nihiltres(t.c.s) 13:08, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

yes it was in the local newspaper. the daily echo. currently i am unable to reference it but i will try to within the next couple of days. MasterEditor99 13:13, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK, reference it and it may go undeleted - I'll remove the speedy tags. Users may still want to delete it, but it should go through WP:AFD now. If you need more help, just ask here. :) Nihiltres(t.c.s) 13:17, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

thanks for the info and yeah i will ask if i need any help. thnx MasterEditor99 13:22, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hola, (word removed) edit

You reversed the edits for Buffalo, NY. Unless your uneducated self spells coffeehouses "coffehouses" then I suggest you seriously revamp your idea of "don't change what doesn't need fixing"

oh and I thought it would be important to mention that the correct way of typing "1900's" is just that.. not "1900s" what you reversed it back to.—Preceding unsigned comment added by BubbinsZass (talkcontribs) 18:36, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Wikipedia Manual of Style explicitly says that dates should be formatted as "1900s". I understand that "coffeehouses" has two e's - at the time, I saw your change as being, as a whole, negative. The typo will be corrected eventually regardless. Don't worry about it, just be civil about the fact that Wikipedia's official standard doesn't match your own. Have a nice day. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 22:50, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

Thanks for your help on disambiguating links. If you ever feel like visiting again, you'll be most welcome! (and I added {{Unsigned}} to the preceding section because there doesn't seem to be an {{Idiotic}} template, more's the shame.) --Russ (talk) 21:42, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problem, disambiguating links is a hobby of mine. As for the above, I think {{shrubbery}} might have been appropriate, although I doubt he'd appreciate it - I don't want a conflict. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 22:58, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your initial guidance on my ThinCan article. This was my first full and non-anonymous contribution to wikipedia and getting it right took a while, especially as this talks about a product and thus may be interpreted as commercially-intent. Anyhow, this is still work in progress. Q-funk 23:16, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Kanun (instrument) edit

Hey, I saw your edit now. Can you help us improve the article (using the Hebrew version), especially if you are one of the people who made the article reach FA status there? Thanks. Here is a project invitation if you want to join us: VikiProje Türkiye'ye davet / Invitation to join WikiProject Turkey

Sorry, I was just interested in what the right-to-left Hebrew Wikipedia layout looked like - I don't understand the language at all. I just noticed, on deciding to read about the instrument in English, that there wasn't a usual WikiProject Echo template on the talk page, so I added it. Thanks anyways, Nihiltres(t.c.s) 11:57, 1 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please? edit

i had to make a story encylopedia entry for a school project? and you deleted it? can you please leave my Carlos Goodwin page up for just a few days? i would really appreciate it and besides, everyone knows its fake but i need that for a project pleaseeeeee —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DRob25 (talkcontribs) 03:39, 4 May 2007 (UTC).Reply

I didn't delete it, but I recommend you look at Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not before trying again - Wikipedia's only for serious, real articles. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 04:15, 4 May 2007 (UTC) (cross-posted)Reply
Look, i won't even ask you put the article back up but it is for a school project so could you at least please leave me a message with the article's content in it? i need to have my article for school this monday so PLEASE, send it to me? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DRob25 (talkcontribs) 19:42, 5 May 2007 (UTC).Reply
I can't see the article's content now that it has been deleted. You'll have to ask an administrator (I'm not one) to give you the text of your article. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 22:28, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Query edit

Dear Nihiltres, I recently created an article on Wikipedia which was deleted by your good self. The deletion was justified on the basis that my article failed to explain why the subject matter is 'notable'. Having checked the guidelines you referred me to on 'notability', however, I am surprised by your decision to remove the article. I am going to create the article again for your perusal, and I will be sure to articulate the notable facets of my subject matter as clearly as I can. Please feel free to contact me regarding the article before any speedy deletion is made. All the Best.

Joshtaee 23:11, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm not an administrator - I haven't deleted anything. When I tagged the article for deletion, however, I did it, as according to the criteria for speedy deletion. These criteria do allow for some articles on notable subjects to be speedily deleted if it is not readily apparent that their subject is notable, especially when the article is particularly short. If you re-post the article, I recommmend you write something about what makes the group important, especially in a non-local sense. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 22:28, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

User:Numtek/Sandbox edit

some sources that are not user editable:

souces that are editable but need to get initiated by the website:

and ofcourse:

and

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Numtek (talkcontribs)

Those look like a good start for sources, but only some would be reliable: MySpace is notoriously unaccepted as a source, Last.fm includes some non-notable artists, and the scene.org link looks like just a file download - that doesn't seem to be a source. I can't read German, so I have no idea about the reliability of some of the other sources, but if they're reliable, you might be able to make your case. Perhaps if you understand German, you could start your article on the German Wikipedia: de:Numtek. Establishing an article with sources there might improve your chances of asserting your notability on the English Wikipedia. I must remind you again, however, that it's generally a conflict of interest to edit or create your own article -requesting the article's creation might be a good idea. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 18:19, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

ok, I will do that then (btw it's dutch) 23:40, 8 May 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Numtek (talkcontribs)

Sounds good, and as for it being dutch: just goes to show how little I know about those two languages. Cheers, Nihiltres(t.c.s) 23:43, 8 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Moving Trains of the Holocaust edit

Why did you move The trains of the Holocaust to Trains of the Holocaust? The emerging consensus on the talk page was that the best title is Holocaust trains. —dgiestc 18:33, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh, sorry, I didn't see that debate. I just knew that Trains of the Holocaust was definitely a better title than The trains of the Holocaust, so I was bold and moved it. Go ahead and move it again if there's a consensus. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 18:35, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
No prob, I was just a bit mystified. Fixed. —dgiestc 18:41, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey edit

Nice page... you seem like a sysop... are you?

This user wants to be your friend.

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Stealthrabbit127 (talkcontribs)

Thanks! No, unfortunately I'm not a sysop - I'm thinking about becoming one (in the forseeable future), though. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 03:10, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please stop! edit

Please stop editing my talk page. It is disruptive and also considered harrassment. Thank you. LooneyGeoffrey 11:26, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Look, I'll stop editing your talk page, but you shouldn't have removed the warnings from Bogbuster's talk page (although he's indefinitely blocked now as a vandal account, I hear), and it's generally inappropriate to blank your own talk page, especially when a user is asking you to not do something. If it seemed that I was harassing you, I hope that you can understand that I wanted you to respond to the message, not to merely repeatedly blank it, a pattern usually characteristic of Wikipedia vandals. I'll move on - just try to be reasonable when users try to send you messages. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 17:40, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Note: egh, now you've mucked things up by expanding your user talk oddities into the article namespace - that is inappropriate. I hope you see changes on this page, because I don't want to cause more trouble by editing your talk again. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 17:45, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Note:This user was later temporarily blocked for incivility, so I don't think I need to worry about this. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 19:15, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
