Hi there, and welcome to the 'pedia! You may want to choose a new username, since we have a policy against those which can be considered offensive, and "PhatJew" may be one of those. You could also provide a rationale on your user page if you want to keep it. --Eloquence 05:48 25 May 2003 (UTC)

Heh. There's nothing wrong with being fat either. Thanks for providing an explanation - language is a funny thing - motives often make a big difference... Martin 22:38 5 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Israel edit

Hello: Please contact User:Humus sapiens who wishes to start a Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Israel See his request below. Thanks IZAK 06:31, 23 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Hi IZAK (and everyone else here :), Do you think it's time to create Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Israel similar to Wikipedia:Wikiportal/India, Wikipedia:Wikiportal/New Zealand and other Category:Wikiportals? I'm writing this here because it was you who made those wonderful templates and we don't have a portal yet where we could communicate. What do you think? Humus sapiensTalk 05:26, 23 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi Humus, it's only me here, but I will pass your message on to "everyone". Yes, your suggestion is excellent, it is certainly time for what you describe, but I have no experience with Wikipedia portals, and if you know how, go ahead and start an Israel portal and I am sure editors of Israel-related articles will support you and join in the effort/s. Behatzlachah. IZAK 05:33, 23 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

User:Sirkumsize is suggesting these articles should be merged with Jewish denominations; I thought you might want to comment. Jayjg (talk) 21:05, 23 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Radiocarbon dating edit

It sounds like the primary caretakers of the page accepted a mention of Creationism as regards carbon dating. So far talk page discussion seems to be going appropriately. I'd say that while controversy over a scientific practice should be included, it by no means should overpower the article or be misproportionate to its notability or effect on the topic in the world. And unless there is a noteworthy, deletion-safe article specifically about Creationism's crusade against carbon dating, more links are not warranted. In any case, your next step would be to refer the question to WP:RFC or WP:3O for outside input. - Keith D. Tyler 18:33, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Chabad link in Minyan Article edit

Please watch Nightline tonight, Feb. 15 edit

Nightline is going to report on the "Saddam Tapes."

Reportedly armed with 12 hours of Saddam Hussein's audio recordings, the organizers of an upcoming "Intelligence Summit" are describing the tapes as the "smoking gun evidence" that the Iraqi dictator possessed weapons of mass destruction in the period leading up to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence has already authenticated the tapes. These are the same tapes mentioned in Duelfer's Report that had not been translated at the time of the report. For some reason, the tapes were released through a very unusual manner - possibly because some in the intelligence community did not want the truth to come out. Read news story here. Succesion boxes edit

See King_Solomon for how a split is handled by succession boxes. Every lineage has splits and regroupings. Even Governor of New Jersey; Pope; King of Egypt; President of the US (split in the Civil War). The box allows you to see just the bit you need to navigate. The long columns of family-tree like charts are to complex and take up too much space when included with every biography, thats why we created the boxes. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) 21:04, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay, maybe when I have time, I will go through and fill in all the missing people in the succession line. I think the boxes will get unwieldy at times, though. Especially when we are talking about the Maggid. He was arguably succeeded by at least 5 different people. PhatJew 21:16, 23 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Category:Midian et. al edit

Hello, PhatJew. I would like your opinion and feedback regarding a discussion I am having with Briangotts here about various categories including Category:Midian and Category:Edom. This issue is whether the categories themselves should be subcategories of Category:Torah people and Category:Torah places, or whether just the articles which actually are about Category:Torah people, such as the parent article Edom and Esau, should be tagged. Further explanation and a place to both voice your opinion and vote may be found on the talk page of Category:Midian. Thank you for your time and input. -- Avi 19:40, 28 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:The Rebbe, the Messiah, and the Scandal of Orthodox Indifference (2001 book) cover.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:The Rebbe, the Messiah, and the Scandal of Orthodox Indifference (2001 book) cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:23, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of "Habib ben Elisha Faturechi" edit

A page you created, Habib ben Elisha Faturechi, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how they are important or significant, and thus why they should be included in an encyclopedia. ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
