Joe I 13:35, 10 September 2010 (UTC) Searchme, please do not put the horse racing portal into a bunch of article namespaces, especially given that we don't even put Portal:Horses there! It's a nice portal, but if you notice, Portal:Horses is discreetly transcluded into the WPEQ template that goes on the TALK pages. We don't want to be putting the portal into 3000 articles, putting in on the template is way easier and doesn't clutter up the article namespace. I think you ought to put the portal into the TB horse racing WikiProject's template, so it automatically gets placed in all the horse racing articles. You can also take the portal to [{WP:EQUINE|WPEQ's]] talk page and see if we want to add it to our template also. (or as an option within the template the way we have the horse breeds task force and horse training task force tags on some, but not all articles). I'm not trying to be harsh, I just don't want to have to either add the horses portal to 500 articles or remove yours from 500 articles...the templates are a MUCH better way to go! These currencies include paper, cotton, and polymer banknotes and metal coins. Countries generally have a monopoly on the issuing of currency, although some countries share currencies with other countries. Today, currencies are the dominant medium of exchange. Different countries may use the same term to refer to their respective currencies, even though the currencies may have little else to do with each other. In some countries, the currencies used vary regionally. For example, four currencies circulate in the partially recognized state of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, which claims the territory of Western Sahara. Some currencies, such as the Nagorno-Karabakh dram (pictured), are not used in day-to-day commerce, but are legal tender. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 04:37, 11 September 2019 (UTC) 2019 US Banknote Contest US Banknote Contest November-December 2019 There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.
