Kiss of Life categories edit

Hello, Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars,

I don't understand when an editor has created categories, in this case for a band, why you empty out the categories and instead make newly created categories that are almost identical to the ones the original editor created. Wouldn't it be better to go through the category renaming process or move them yourself rather than create new, competing categories? It seems a little insensitive to the editor who first got the idea to create these categories who is now wondering why their empty categories are tagged for speedy deletion. It doesn't matter who does the first edit, it's about collaboration, not competition. Liz Read! Talk! 22:47, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Liz: You are exactly right. I'm not competing with anybody. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:53, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Genius of Modern Music edit

Hi! Could you help me figure out how to clean up the 10" for Genius of Modern Music? I separated out the 12"s Genius of Modern Music, Vols. One & Two. The second ten inch is still up: Genius of Modern Music, Vol. 2. Neither ten inch has any citations but only the first got flagged because of the new page creation. Should I just merge it in with vol 2? It feels like they should have separate pages (three total) or be merged together because the ten inches don't have proper sourcing. Thanks for correcting that; sorry, I'm not used to four letter prepositions being capitalized TlonicChronic (talk) 14:29, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Rick Nelson - For Your Sweet Love Billboard Review edit

Hi @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars i saw it article of Rick Nelson - For your sweet love, when you remove the billboard review, what appropriate or not appropriate for the billboard review wikipedia article, Strong new xas by Nelson here, incorporating his four single sides so far released by Decca and eight others, including the Listenanable album title song. This is his first album for his new label and it shound be a big one, and the color cover shot won't do any harm either. "Gypsy Woman" and "String Along", his current action singles, are here with "I Got a Woman", You Don't Love Me Anymore" and a flock of other goodies [1]https://books.google.com/books?id=aQsEAAAAMBAJ&lpg=PA29&dq=rick%20nelson%20for%20your%20sweet%20love%20billboard&pg=PA29#v=onepage&q=rick%20nelson%20for%20your%20sweet%20love%20billboard&f=false? Samchristie05 (talk) 04:20, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Samchristie05: You need to learn how to be succinct and determine what is appropriate and not appropriate for an article. That "review" in Billboard reads more like a sales pitch and offers no critical information on its own. Just because you find something that refers to it online doesn't mean you have to use it in the article. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 04:30, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Do Androids Dream of Essential Beats? edit

Hi, you removed the cover image that i added to Do Androids Dream of Essential Beats?, I found it at [2] do you have a more accurate cover? J04n(talk page) 20:04, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@J04n: The cover you used is for an album called Do Androids Dream of Electric Beats?, which the Discogs URL also indicates. Essential Beats appears to be this one. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:09, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Misafir Geldim edit

Hello Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Misafir Geldim for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Misafir Geldim to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Suggestion edit

Hello, Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars,

I review the Move log during the day and have noticed that you move a lot of articles and drafts, particularly involving music. Have you ever considered requesting Page Mover rights? Then you could choose whether or not to leave a redirect when you move a page. You have much more experience that most of our page movers and I'm pretty sure it would be automatically granted. Just thought I'd mention it in case it is something you're interested in. Thanks for all of your contributions to the project! Liz Read! Talk! 04:05, 28 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: I was actually considering granting the perm to you when I came across this message from @Liz. If you're interested in the perm, I'd be happy to grant it to you. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:39, 12 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

I just tagged an unreferenced article with an unreferenced tag. What would you like help with? StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:44, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Finding references? I'm having a hard time. You didn't look at it? Drmies (talk) 20:06, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I assess albums that populate Category:Unassessed Album articles. I saw the article was not referenced and added the tag. Maybe the album is not even notable. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:05, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

UK Singles Chart move request edit

Hi. There is currently an open move request at Talk:UK Singles Chart regarding capitalisation in the article's title. Since you've edited several music chart-related articles, I wanted to bring it to your attention, in case you have any thoughts on the matter. Template edit

Hello Star, I have seen your name countless times in music related so I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask for help regarding (music) templates. I have created {{Yanga Chief}} and {{Anatii}} and it was easy since they have notable songs, written songs, produced songs, and released album(s) as well, so I was wondering if it would be possible to create one for Tyla (linked category to show her works + tour) or is it too early? I'm asking 'cause I came across this template {{Kabza de Small}} which does not contain too many articles   Thank you in advance, I'll be on the lookout for your response. dxneo (talk) 07:40, 27 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi dxneo. Thank you for your message. I'd say just go for it. It's at a mimimal threshold for me but nothing that tells me you shouldn't. Just be sure to add the navbox to all the articles that you list in it. I noticed you didn't add the Yanga Chief navbox in the article for 10 Fingers. If you don't think it should be in the article, then it shouldn't be in the navbox. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:53, 27 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Query edit

Hello, Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars,

You know both categories and music on Wikipedia so I'm hoping you can help. An editor just created a new category, Category:Indie rock musical groups which looks legit. But it has no parent categories. Can you assign appropriate ones so that this category fits into the music category hierarchy? Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Liz Read! Talk! 04:01, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Liz: Thanks for bringing this to my attention. This category is already covered by Category:Indie rock groups, and the contents should be merged into there. Should the new one just be changed into a category redirect? StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 04:27, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
That makes sense. I already tagged it CSD C1 but I'll revert that and you can create a category redirect. You really do have an encyclopedic memory on the subject. Liz Read! Talk! 05:13, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

...And The Music Plays On edit

Sam recreated this page as a draft after placing a {{db-self}} tag on the original page, so that he could hide the reject notice. I caught wind of this, and told him that if he thinks AfC reviewers are wrong, he should move the page to mainspace himself instead of resubmitting. I think it's against the spirit of WP:DRAFTOBJECT to redraftify this page instead of opening a deletion discussion. Mach61 16:56, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Mach61: Thanks for letting me know. Sam was publishing so many horribly written and poorly sourced articles that they were always being sent to draft. It was suggested he be blocked from creating new articles in mainspace, but he got the message and voluntarily began developing his articles in draft space. His submissions would still be declined, sometimes multiple times, before being accepted and moved to mainspace, which seems like he’s wasting a lot of time of the reviewers. I noticed he moved this one himself but didn’t know you had told me he could/should. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:52, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars. Take a look for which one you prefer at the "Release history" table: "Distributor", "Licensee", "Marketer" or "Promoter". 183.171.122.34 (talk) 17:56, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Re: jazz album stub templates edit

Why is there a minimum? Other music stub cats don't seem to meet your minimum, such as "2020s indie rock album stubs" (27 entries) and "Finnish composer stubs" (53). - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 02:38, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Sumanuil:. First, you should read WP:NEWSTUB before creating such stub categories and templates. New stubs should be discussed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals first, at which time they can be created. Stub categories should not be created on a whim. What I attempted to do per NEWSTUB is allow for the existence of the template (e.g. {{2020s-jazz-album-stub}}), which was created a year ago, without the need of the very lightly populated category (e.g. Category:2020s jazz album stubs). In regards to the examples you cite, Category:Finnish composer stubs was approved through the proposal process and, at the time, probably met the 60 threshhold and is still not that far off from it anyway. Category:2020s indie rock album stubs, on the other hand, was never proposed and should not have been created. The two jazz album stub categories should be deleted and returned to just the templates, as I had done, until there are 60+ stub articles that could populate each one. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 06:40, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ok. That's all I wanted, a detailed explanation. Delete it if you see fit to do so. But I still think emptying it to force to qualify for speedy deletion was not the right thing to do. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 07:44, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I fixed the stub templates to meet standard procedures for new stubs when created out of process, which resulted in the categories being emptied. I did not do it force them to qualify for speedy deletion. Thanks and happy editing. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:02, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, that's just what it seemed like from here. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 08:32, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
