July 2020 edit

Hello, I'm SovalValtos. I noticed that you recently removed content from Mirza Ghulam Ahmad without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. We treat Ahmadi Muslims as just another group of Muslims, albeit one most Muslims dislike edit

You may not make edits that say that they are not Muslims. Our articles make it clear what the views of most Muslims and some Muslim countries are. Wikipedia is not a religious encyclopedia and we accept that religious groups are what they say they are. Doug Weller talk 12:58, 22 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello Syed Aashir, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Akif Saeed have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:23, 5 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Hello, my apologies for not leaving this note sooner. I was the editor that nominated the article for deletion. I genuinely hope you don't find this discouraging, although I know from experience this is hard to do. Please contribute to the discussion on the nomination page. It's certainly possible it will not be deleted if you make a good case for notability and others agree with you; I'm completely open to changing my mind if you convince me. Writing an article can be very difficult if you're new to Wikipedia and it often takes some time and experience before success. I'd be happy to request the article be moved to your draft space so you can continue to work on it; alternatively, you can post the sources on the nomination page or add them to the article for others to consider. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know and I genuinely do hope you're not discouraged. Best wishes,   // Timothy :: talk  02:16, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Battle of Aror edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Battle of Aror requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://fazal-pakistan.blogspot.com/2011/11/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Syed Adnan Kakakhail edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Syed Adnan Kakakhail requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Saqib (talk) 06:30, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you want the article to be kept, you need to do two things:
  1. Use the article talk page to explain why the article should not be deleted. Try clicking on the big blue button on Syed Adnan Kakakhail - this will take you to Talk:Syed Adnan Kakakhail - and will help you by posting a draft message "This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (your reason here) --~~~~" You need to put your reasons for keeping the article where it says "(your reason here)"
  2. You need to improve the article using reliable sources - if you do a Google search, and click on the news tab you will see three news stories - the one from Dawn appears to be a false positive, but the other two mention Mufti Syed Adnan Kakakhel. If Mufti Syed Adnan Kakakhel is the same person as Syed Adnan Kakakhail, then put information from these two stories into the article along with citations to them. When I put the "Mufti Syed Adnan Kakakhel" spelling into Google for news, I got six news stories (i.e. four new ones), so use these to build up the article. By showing that the subject of the article appears in independent reliable sources it helps in two ways (1) it makes the article better, and (2) it establishes notability.

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Tariq Masood a different title (Tariq Masood) by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. -- Toddy1 (talk) 09:56, 22 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Saad Hussain Rizvi edit

Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".   Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Mazar-e-Qasmi, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. ─ The Aafī (talk) 07:24, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you are the copyright holder and would like to use this image on Wikipedia, please follow the instructions given at WP:DONATEIMAGE. This will start the process to get an OTRS ticket in place on the item proving that Wikipedia has permission to use it. The image should be uploaded to Commons, not directly to Wikipedia, so you will need to open a user account on that wiki as well. This may sound complex, but hopefully if you take it step by step it will go smoothly. If you have any questions, you can leave a message on my talk page. Thanks!-- Toddy1 (talk) 11:20, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Hidayatullah Kheshgi edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Hidayatullah Kheshgi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hidayatullah Kheshgi (2nd nomination). When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. 2019–2021 Persian Gulf Crisis edit

Why did you change the title or rather move the article? --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 20:56, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Is it confirm that the crisis will end in 2021. Syed Aashir (talk) 01:14, 30 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

No evidence for that. And you should post that on the talk page and reach a consensus among editors. I reverted your move. Until then, don't move the page. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 13:25, 30 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

2002 North-West Frontier Province provincial election edit

Hello. A couple of issues with the results table in this article. Firstly, you forgot to add the 'Other parties' row. This error should have been obvious as the total at the bottom of the table was lower than the total in the source. It also meant the percentages you used in the infobox were wrong. Please be more careful when creating results tables and ensure the total matches the source, as this will tell you if you've made a mistake.

Secondly, parties should be sorted by the number of votes they won, not seats.

I've corrected both of these issues. Cheers, Number 57 12:23, 30 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

A couple of other tips:
  • Independents are always listed last
  • Use 'Other parties' instead of 'Others' when you also have a row for independents
  • It should be 'Independents' not 'Independent'

Replaceable fair use File:Mufti Tariq Masood.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:Mufti Tariq Masood.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 13:51, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

August 2021 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed a file deletion tag from File:Mufti Tariq Masood.png. When removing deletion tags, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Muhammad Shafi Daudi moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Muhammad Shafi Daudi, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Onel5969 TT me 16:29, 14 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Onel5969, I just moved it back to mainspace. Daudi was a member of legislative assembly and meets the WP:NPOL criteria. This needs a lot of work though. I see a number of books discussing him and hopefully I can fix some references, ─ The Aafī (talk) 17:44, 15 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

War in Afghanistan Infobox dates edit

Will you please stop changing various infobox dates regarding the War in Afghanistan and associated topics to declare 15 or 16 August as the end date. There is still a lack of consensus on these topics in the talk pages for these articles and/or a lack of sources supporting this outside reporting what the Taliban declare. Sockpuppet investigation edit

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Syed Aashir, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.Write me

I am not using multiple accounts. This is my only single account. Syed Aashir (talk) 08:49, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
They probably won't see your message here, you'll need to follow the link to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Syed Aashir and comment there.
To avoid this problem in the future you may want to avoid copy/ pasting comments by other users, since that seems to confuse some people for some reason. The Gentle Sleep (talk) 09:16, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
My apologies, Syed Aashir, it seems my assertions were incorrect. Copy-pasted materials on talk pages usually raises some red flags (eg. bots, sockpuppets), so I erroneously assumed you two were the same person (or at least closely associated). Discretionary sanctions alert - India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.
