Copying within Wikipedia edit

Thanks for identifying the source of the material in your edit.

This type of edit does get picked up by Copy Patrol and a good edit summary helps to make sure we don't accidentally revert it. However, for future use, would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, adding a link to the source page and the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved.S Philbrick(Talk) 12:26, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

I apologise; I'll keep that in mind in the future. Thanks. Tetrahedron17 (talk) 12:34, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I had to delete the same content in the source article as it wasn't relevant. Do I need to additionally write something specific in the edit summary for such cases? Tetrahedron17 (talk) 12:37, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
No just try to write an ES you think other people will understand. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:05, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thing about ping edit

Obscure piece of WP-lore coming you're way: This [1] doesn't work. For whatever reason, a successful ping must have that template and a WP:SIGN in the same published edit, or else it doesn't "go through". Can be read about at WP:PINGFIX. I said it was obscure. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:01, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Oh.   Thanks, will keep in mind. Tetrahedron17 (talk) 16:14, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

TWLeewu I'm sorry, I can't understand what you're trying to say. Do have an issue with my edits on this article? Tetrahedron17 (talk) 05:00, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Erwadi edit

Apparently serial reverters are back, we'll see what happens. I asked for protection at WP:RFP. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:11, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Gråbergs Gråa Sång Thanks... I didn't even know smaller articles could be nominated for protection. Tetrahedron17 (talk) 17:40, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Smaller article? Depends on which version you're looking at ;-) But afaik, size doesn't matter. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:50, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Gråbergs Gråa Sång yeah, haha. though i meant, articles of lesser importance, that have lesser traffic and so on. like i bet this one has had more edits and people looking it up. Tetrahedron17 (talk) 17:54, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
It may be declined as "to little for now" but asking is cheap. Happily, there seems to be a few watchers. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:00, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Gråbergs Gråa Sång Do you think this could be reasonably nominated? It gets edited by IP's now and then, adding unreferenced stuff in an article that's already very poorly cited. Not very frequently, though. Tetrahedron17 (talk) 18:10, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think they're unwilling to issue longer protection unless it's more frequent/obviously bad faith stuff. Bishonen, would you care to comment? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:25, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I would rather have blocked the character who keeps adding the unreferenced text dump, but it looks like they have access to several IPs. I've semiprotected the article for 2 weeks. Bishonen | tålk 19:28, 6 May 2020 (UTC).Reply
And PS, Tetrahedron17, in a way articles with less traffic have more need of protection. But I don't think I'm ready to protect Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology. Bishonen | tålk 19:32, 6 May 2020 (UTC).Reply

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message edit

Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:57, 24 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
