- Oppose. Hard to assess whether this event will be of significance in the future, but looking for prior similar events, I found March 2012 Gaza–Israel clashes, which doesn't appear (from the talk page) to have been through AfD, but was assessed by a member of WikiProject Israel to be a Start class article. (Pointing this out to highlight that the assessing editor did not AfD that article when they assessed the article.) Easier to AfD/merge this a month from now than to delete current info and recreate if it is of significance. At the very least, this should merge with Israel–Gaza conflict instead of being a pure delete.--Policy Reformer(c) 01:49, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. Most significant military escalation in the area for years; already undoubtedly notable. Notability likely to grow greater with time. Encyclopedic details can already be conveyed in this article, it's not just a rehashing of news headlines. Of all the AfD's I've seen opened in similar situations, I don't think I've seen one actually close as delete. Kevin Gorman (talk) 02:12, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep The conflict is likely to escalate. It's should definitely be kept for now. If it's over tomorrow, I guess we can merge this to the main Israeli-Gaza conflict article.-- FutureTrillionaire (talk) 02:26, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep major event in the ongoing Israeli-Gaza conflict timeline. Will have major international consequences if it continues to escalates. -- Luke (Talk) 02:47, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Major international event; WP:NOT#NEWS would apply to otherwise non-notable subjects. 99.0.80.70 (talk) 02:55, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. I understand the desire to delete given the blatantly Israeli POV, but readers just need to understand that there is a disproportionate number of editors on Wikipedia who are pro-Israeli military, so much so that articles like these do not differ much from official Israeli military and U.S. press releases. - Keep summarizing ongoing events is one of the things Wikipedia does best. GabrielF (talk) 03:06, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Speedy Keep per WP:CSK#5: The article is currently linked from the Main Page. If someone else wants to confirm this and close it as such; it doesn't require an admin to do so.--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 03:12, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
