Richard B. Parker's book: The Politics of Miscalculation in the Middle East, draws on unpublished accounts and interviews, to explain why did the Six Day War take place.

Brook's book says:"15- According tp Parker (1993:79), Zakariya Mohieddin, Egypt's vice president, attributed Nasser's behaviour to a flare up of his diabetes." [1]

I will appreciate it if one can quote Parker on ex senior Egyptians officials views, and especially Zakaria Mohieddin (who was a vice president then) view.

I am trying to source an uncited claim I found in the Yucca lead paragraph: "It is also colloquially known in the lower Midwest United States as "ghosts in the graveyard", as it is commonly found growing in rural graveyards and when in bloom the cluster of (usually pale) flowers on a thin stalk appear as floating apparitions." So far this is the only seemingly reliable source I have found for the colloquialism that is not an echo of Wikipedia. Does the above source support both claims (nickname and reason for nickname) in that sentence and is this newspaper/article/author considered a WP:RS ? Thanks NQ. It is tenuous to claim the entire "lower Midwest" region from that citation but the paper is *in* the Midwest (Texas) so the claim is technically correct. Requesting as many reference sources relating to Est, Werner Erhard, and Landmark Education from as many databanks as I can get edit

One of the outcomes of a recent arbitration case was to try to involve more editors in the articles relating to Est and its successor entities, specifically including Landmark Worldwide. I think one of the best indicators of what sort of content our articles should have would be what other existing reference sources, of any kind, say about the topic. It does broadly fall within the general areas of social movements/sociology, psychology, new religious movements, self-help, and other fields, and any material from the databanks, specifically roughly "encyclopedic" articles relating to any of the topics involved would be more than welcome. Specific titles for such topics which come to mind include Erhard Seminars Training or est, Werner Erhard, Landmark Education/Landmark Worldwide, Landmark Forum, the Human potential movement, and Large group awareness training. The key articles of immediate focus are Werner Erhard, Landmark Education, Werner Erhard and Associates and the other articles in that basic subject area. There are plenty of articles on the subject of est which primarily covers pre-Landmark era, but I assume that is not what you’re after. I've emailed you an entry for Erhard Seminars Training from Contemporary American Religion, which mentions that "In 1984 est was transformed into The Forum, and in 1991 it became Landmark Education Corporation." @Sitush: You are most likely looking for - Kuhi-i-Jud And The Janjuas From Raja Mal To Babur Khan, Hussain. JAC, 13 (1990) 1:73. - snippet of the title snippet from p79. Dr Khan's book "Chronicles of Early Janjuas" has a chapter with the same name. You can preview most of the pages here. The cited passages in Bais Rajputs and Janjua can be sourced to page 26 of the same book which states Raja Mal left five sons, two of them Raja Jodh and Raja Wir born of a Gakkhar Rani, remained in Kuh-i Jud, whereas the remaining three were Raja Tanawali,Raja Kala Khan and Raja Kahku, born of a Rajput princess.... Most of this is attributed to the book Punjab Chiefs by Lepel H. I'm looking for an article that appeared in Discover Magazine in October 1995. It was titled An inescapable buzz and was apparently by M Abrams and on page 20. I've just realised that I edited a reference to add detail, implying that I've reviewed it, but that I haven't actually seen the article myself. As the only other person who's reviewed it is the IP editor that added it years ago, that's not good, especially as it doesn't show in this (quite possibly not-exhaustive) table of contents for the Oct 1995 issue.

I've an EBSCOhost reference, if that helps.[10]

A claim from the 1999 Guinness Book of World Records edit

There was a claim that American singer Selena was named "most dominating artist" on the 1999 Guinness Book of World Records, however, I bought this version and couldn't find the claim in the book, she wasn't even mentioned. According to Amazon, there are two different versions of the book (the first released in May 1999 and one from September 1999). I have the May edition and was wondering if the September 1999 edition of the book has this claim? Also, if anyone can provide me a clearer text of what the book means by "most dominating artist"; was it overall? Latin field? I can't find this at all... one site said she was on the cover! I don't think this is true. I know they've had a Spanish edition (El Libro Guinness de Los Records) but I don't know if they had one in 2000. You might try contacting Guinness, since you paid for the book already! Need help obtaining image of Elizabeth Bauer Kassler edit

As part of this year's Art+Feminism Edit-A-Thon, I created and am improving the article on Elizabeth Bauer Mock. I've only been able to find one photo of her available online, here. I'd like to use this in her article as Fair Use, considering it is the only photo of her out there available to the public (as far as I can tell). I don't have an account with mocavo.com, so the image is just too blurry and low quality to use in an article. I was hoping someone out there might have access to mocavo.com or have some other means of getting a higher quality Fair Use image of this photo for me. If this is the wrong place to make such a request, please let me know where would be best. Thanks!

Need Help Seeing a Specific 1860 U.S. Census Entry edit

I just did some research on this man: http://records.ancestry.com/henry_mole_records.ashx?pid=121043325

--and it appears that he might have been the World's Oldest Man at the time of his death in 1962 (though he was probably 107, rather than 109, years old at the time of his death). That said, though, I need someone with a subscription to Ancestry.com and/or to another such website to please give me a copy of this actual 1860 U.S. Census entry itself:

I don't have ancestry.com membership to be able to help, but I do suggest that you check to see if your local library provides access. Mine does, but can only be access at the library (in contrast to most paywall reference sites they pay for access to can be accessed anywhere with a library card number). Is there a citable resource available for species names and in whose honour they were named edit

I'm researching an article I'm intending to create on a notable woman scientist Wilmatte Porter Cockerell for the Smithsonian Archives Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on 27th of March. Her husband Theodore Dru Alison Cockerell named numerous species (about 30) in honour of her (under either the name porterae or wilmattae). See the first 5 species in this [23] and around the first 25 or so in this [24]

I've inferred these species are named after her because she normally discovered and collected the type specimen he was naming and Wilmatte is an unusual name. But I need to find a citable source for each of these namings that I can use for my article. I'm by no means an entomologist and am having difficulty understanding the scientific papers published by Cockerell that I can access, assuming I can even find the appropriate article on line (he was writing between 1899 - 1940's). Often the specific article isn't available and even if it is available Cockerell may not specifically state he's named the bug after her.

Does anyone know if there is a citable resource that sets out after whom a bug is named? Or am I on the correct track of just wading through all his writing to see if I can find the stray sentence stating he's naming a bug after his wife? I would have to concur. The species gets named when the author makes his or her first publication about it, often under the heading, "A new species of such-n-such", in an appropriate journal or book. The author at that time may or may not explain his/ her reasoning for the name— often, the name given is obvious (e.g., the naming of the bioluminescent fungus Mycena luxaeterna) but this is not always the case and as far as I know the naming author is under no obligation to offer any formal explanation, which leaves the reader to infer it. While it may seem like conducting original research to infer that a particular woman's name was used for the Latin name of an insect, I don't think you'll be stretching the rules much if the connection is as obvious as you claim. But formal explanations, those are really hit and miss. I am going to ping User:Animalparty here and encourage getting another opinion. KDS4444Talk 20:19, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's true that the etymology is not always provided in taxonomic descriptions: some may be defined in successive works and/or unpublished letters, while others are never defined and left as eternal mysteries (see e.g. Sequoia (genus). For some popular taxa there are eponym dictionaries, i.e. The Eponym Dictionary of Amphibians or The Eponym Dictionary of Birds, and some specialty websites might have lists (e.g. Biographical Etymology of Marine Organism Names, Curious Scientific Names, or Curiosities of Biological Nomenclature--though these may not meet WP:RS), but I'm not aware of any specializing in insects (the most speciose group on earth!). Absent of such resources, the next best bet for comprehensive and reliable eponym lists for a person often comes in an obituary, festschrift, or similar biography written by colleagues (general audience biographies may often not deem it worthy to burden readers with hefty chunks of Latin); if not all eponymic species are listed, at least numbers might be thrown out to aid in searching. Tracking down the original descriptions may be the last resort (Biodiversity Heritage Library is great for that), but again, may not provide definite answers. While it might be reasonable to assume that every porterae named by T.D.A. Cockerell is named after his wife, stating such without explicit verification on Wikipedia is WP:OR or WP:SYN at best. In the worst case scenario, a vague yet verifiable statement like "Cockerell named several species after his wife; including [select verified examples]..." would be the most policy compliant statement. --Animalparty-- (talk) 21:54, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for the detailed assistance above. It's very much appreciated. After much research it turns out that her husband wasn't the only one naming numerous insects after her. Several "Cockerellae" also appear to be named in her honor rather than her husband by the publishing entomologist, given that she collected the holotype specimens. However again I'm running up against the issue of no specific statement. Unfortunately despite her large contribution to entomology by way of discovering new species there doesn't appear to be a detailed obituary I can cite. Given this I'm going to attempt to follow the guidelines you've set. I'll edit her article and attempt to use the "vague yet verifiable" approach. Thanks again for all your help. Requesting an article by Ilan Stavans edit

I was working on the Selena article today and wrote down the page title, author, and the source that I found the information I need to improve the article; but I can't locate an Ilan Stavans article he did on the singer called "Dreaming of You" in which he used the following statements needed;

  • queen of hybrid pop culture.
  • Hispanic Marilyn Monroe.
  • "But even if we had, her music is cursi--melodramatic, cheesy, overemotional, not too far from Juan Gabriel and a relative of Julio Iglesias"
  • Acted on Siempre en Domingo.

@EnigmaMcmxc: btw I use a lot of ebooks as references; and instead of chapters, I just mark it "edition=ePub" so I can still cite page numbers.
