Some Wikipedians have formed a project to better organize information in articles related to Urban studies and planning. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list there.

Scope edit

This WikiProject aims to:

  1. Thoroughly explore Urban studies and planning - globally and historically.
  2. Improve Urban studies and planning related articles.
  3. Provide a place to discuss common issues on Urban studies and planning related pages.
  4. Organise, discuss and categorise Category:Urban planning
  5. Ensure all pages meet the standards of Wikipedia:Cite sources. Non-referenced articles seem unprofessional. See also WikiProject Fact and Reference Check.
  6. Develop standards and templates for Urban studies and planning related articles.

Structure edit

Section open to discuss the format for each article based on the WikiProject. Include various categories applicable to the topic.

Goals edit

The goals of this project are the following:

  1. Ensure all the articles under the scope of this project are written to a high quality
  2. Organise all the articles into appropriate categories
  3. Place all categories in the correct hierarchy.
  4. Create user friendly linkages and navigation

An assessment department has been opened at Wikipedia:WikiProject Urban studies and planning/Assessment and a bot request has been made to tag all articles in Category:Urban studies and planning and all sub cats with the {{planning}} tag.

Tasks edit

Adopt an article edit

Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.

Create new articles edit
