Kalat, Wali of H.H. Beglar Begi Mir Sir Mohammad Khan K.C.I.E. (1894); b, 1864; succeeded to title, 1893; belong to an Arab family which under Mir Wari took possession of the state about the middle of the 15th century; the state came under British protection for the first time in 1854 when an agreement was entered into between the Khan and the British Government by which the Walis of Kalat acknowledged British suzerainty; area of the State, 90,000 square miles; Population, 000,000.
