Standage, Major Robert Fraser, M.R.C.P., M.R.C.S., Residency Surgeon, Bangalore; b. 1868; educ: privately; joined the St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, and studied Medicine; won the Bentley Surgical Prize; held various medical appointments at London Hospital; came out to India, 1895; appointed to Bombay Lancers, 1897; District Medical Officer on Famine duty, same year; thanked by Government for excellent work in Sholapur famine; attached to 2nd Baluchis under orders for Uganda, East Africa; mentioned in despatches for conspicuous gallantry (Uganda medal and clasp); Residency Surgeon, Mysore, 1900; attended the Delhi Durbar and received the Coronation medal, Publications: Many papers bearing on the abdominal and gynaecological surgery published in the “Lancet”, ‘Indian Medical Gazette’, and the ‘Journal of Gynaecology of the British Empire’.
