Summary

Description
English: Kodachadri is a mountain peak with dense forests (altitude - 1343 metres above sea level) in the Western Ghats. It is declared as natural heritage site by Government Karnataka. The name comes from native word "Kodacha" or "Kodashi" which means hill of Kutaja flowers and "Adri" a Sanskrit word, both combined together coined the word Kodachadri. Kutaja in Sanskrit means Girimallika or Jasmine of the hill. The hilly region that is full of 'Jasmine of the hills' plants is "Kutajadri". It is also called "Kutachadri" and "Kodashi Parvatha".

Kodachadri attracts all kind of travelers. Be it a hiking enthusiast seeking adventure and adrenaline rush through trekking or nature and animal lovers who find interesting plants and birds amidst the green hills and pristine waterfalls to soak in the beauty of nature. If one is religiously inclined, they can get the blessings of the deity at the top and also visit Sarvajna Peetha at the peak point where Adi Shankaracharya was believed to have meditated.

But truly, the now famous sun set at the peak where you will witness the panorama of rolling green hills and also a glimpse of Arabian sea and the bright orange sun going down the hills might force one to contemplate on the nature and its complex beauty. And to witness the same sun rise above the foggy and misty hills and over a blanket of silver clouds the next early morning would be the perfect way to start a day. for more visit www.kodachadristayin.com
