This template is used to define which topic a travel topic article pertains to, to create the breadcrumb at the top of the topic page. It will also add the article to a category of the same name, if such a category exists.

Note that this is only for topic guides. Use {{IsPartOf}} for destination articles and {{PartOfItinerary}} for itinerary articles.

To use it, add {{PartOfTopicname parent topic}} to the bottom of a travel topic page. The name of the topic should normally be one of the existing categories or subcategories in Category:Travel topics. If you use a different topic name, and no category exists for it, then a small Create category link will be placed at the bottom of the article to assist in its creation.

For example: {{PartOfTopic|Driving}}

Optionally, a second parameter can be added for a region. It does not add a breadcrumb to the page, but it adds the page to the category.

For example: {{PartOfTopic|Travel activities‎|France}}

If you add a non-region as the second parameter (e.g., {{PartOfTopic|Travel activities‎|Driving}}), the page will be added to Category:Travel topic needing category. A travel topic cannot be placed in two breadcrumbs trails. However, it is possible to add the page to multiple categories using this template. Simply repeat the template once for each travel topic. The last (lowest on the page) template's category is where the page will appear in the breadcrumb. The others will only generate a category.

See Wikivoyage:Breadcrumb navigation for more information.
