Giovanna Fletcher (née Falcone; born 29 January 1985) is a British author, presenter, actress, blogger, and vlogger.

Early life

Fletcher was born in Essex, England.[citation needed] Daughter of an Italian father, Mario and Argentine mother, Kim Falcone, she has two siblings: Giorgina and Mario. Her brother Mario Falcone is an English television personality, best known for appearing in the ITV2 semi-reality programme The Only Way Is Essex.

She attended the performing arts school, Sylvia Young Theatre School in London, followed by the Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance,[1] graduating in 2006.[citation needed]

Career

Television and film work

Fletcher has been on screen several times, including an uncredited role in The Boat That Rocked, as a guest on Loose Women, and as a contestant on All Star Mr & Mrs.[2] She has had appearances on ITV's morning TV show Lorraine since 2015, including presenting a segment for the show called Take 5.[3]

Writing

Fletcher's writing career was born out of a desire to keep busy between acting jobs, starting with an unpublished satirical project entitled Dating McFly is for Dummies, which whet her appetite for writing.[4]

Prior to becoming an author, Fletcher wrote for several magazines, including work experience at Heat, where she wrote book reviews and copy for their website, and an internship at Bliss magazine. Fletcher also worked at Recognise Magazine[4]

Today she has a regular blog feature on Hello! magazine's website.[5]

Through her blogging and book reviewing work, Fletcher networked with authors and literary folk at book events. It was in one of these events that Fletcher spoke to novelist Dorothy Koomson, and it was this pivotal conversation that inspired Fletcher to write a book of her own.[4]

Fletcher's debut novel, Billy and Me, was published in May 2013, followed by You're the One That I Want in May 2014. Dream a Little Dream was published in June 2015, and a fourth novel, Always with Love followed in June 2016.[6]

In 2017 she published her first non-fiction book, Happy Mum, Happy Baby: My Adventures in Motherhood.

Music

Fletcher has sung in musical performances on several YouTube videos, posted to her husband, Tom's, YouTube channel. She has performed duet covers in a series called "Me & Mrs F", covering songs including "How Do You Like Your Eggs In the Morning?",[7] "It Ain't Me Babe",[8] "L-O-V-E",[9] "You Really Got a Hold on Me",[10] "Moon River",[11] "Love Is on the Radio",[12] and "Tonight You Belong to Me".[13] Most of these covers have over half a million views each, with "Love Is on the Radio" having accumulated 1.8 million views over 3 years.

In December 2016 she had her professional concert debut, singing on stage in London's West End in Alan Menken's A Christmas Carol at the Lyceum Theatre.[14]

In December 2017 she performed in the musical production of husband Tom Fletcher's novel The Christmasaurus alongside Tom, Carrie Hope Fletcher, Harry Judd, and Matt Willis.[15]

YouTube

In October 2011 Fletcher launched her own YouTube channel, Giovannasworld where she films videos for an audience of over 180,000 subscribers and counting, amassing over 17 million views to date.

Of her vlogs and social media presence, she says her aim is to "create a fun and positive little place on the Internet for people to come and feel uplifted. I document my life as an author, presenter, blogger and columnist, but most importantly my roles as wife to Tom and mum to Buzz and Buddy."[16]

Personal life

On 18 April 2011, Fletcher became engaged to her schoolmate and longtime boyfriend Tom Fletcher. He proposed to her at the Sylvia Young Theatre School where they first met at age 13.[17] They were married on 12 May 2012 with his McFly bandmates serving as his groomsmen.[18] The McFly song All About You was written by Tom about Giovanna as a Valentine's present in 2004.[19] Tom reworked the song, as well as Obviously and The Heart Never Lies, for his wedding speech. The video of the speech went viral and to date has more than 19 million views on YouTube.[20]

It was announced on Tom's YouTube channel on 29 October 2013 that the couple were expecting their first child, with a video titled, We Have Some News...[21] At exactly 7 pm on 13 March 2014, their son Buzz Michelangelo Fletcher was born.[22] Tom and Giovanna created a YouTube video, called Bump to Buzz to announce the arrival of their first son Buzz,[23] which has over 13 million views.

The Fletchers announced on 3 September 2015, again on YouTube, that Giovanna was expecting their second child, by means of a video entitled 'Player 2'.[24] On 16 February 2016, their second son Buddy Bob Fletcher was born. The video announcing the birth of their second son was titled Bump to Buddy, where they took pictures documenting their second pregnancy,[25] together along with their son Buzz present.

On 3 March 2018, the Fletchers announced via their YouTube channel that they were expecting their third child. The video is titled Snow Way...we have something to tell you. and shows Tom and Giovanna, with their two sons Buzz and Buddy, building a snowman which shows the scan of their third child.[26]
