: I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean here. For every article I translate, I mention the origin of the text in the talk page of the translation. After nearly 5,300 translations here (I only made 8,900 on the fr. Wiki), this is the first time someone raises this point. Don't expect too much from my feeble neurons or what is left from them. I'm weak in English, as for HTLM, don't even mention it. ~Sorry. [[User:LouisAlain|LouisAlain]] ([[User talk:LouisAlain#top|talk]]) 16:33, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Konrad Rupf

On 11 February 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Konrad Rupf, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Konrad Rupf, a long-term singer of the Leipzig Opera, made his stage debut in 1955 as Dulcamara in L'elisir d'amore and appeared as Tevje in Fiddler on the Roof in 2000? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Konrad Rupf. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Konrad Rupf), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Christoph Kammertöns requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. what??? - thank goodness someone declined it speedily --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:15, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank God you beat me at answering Gerda. Another evidence in my eyes how unprofessional Wikipedia and some of its servants can be. 11 References, 5 external links and linked to 5 other articles LouisAlain (talk) 13:19, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Had a quick look. The Jack-in-USA account was created today just before asking for deletion. Very likely by a troll. Will this account be "kept" alive ? LouisAlain (talk) 13:40, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I welcomed them, and they created a decent article, so why not? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:09, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You prediction was better, congrats! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:05, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is quite possible that this troll comes from the French Wikipedia (possibly the one who already set up a trap in which I fell (nobody coming to help things out quite the opposite, a dozen or so users and administrators added fuel to the fire, a pack of hienas then went after me) with the outcome you know. And yes, I've been traumatized since.
Different topic: I will not understand why why why this splendid Kutsch/Riemens source is not used, but only mentioned as Further reading, even with the correct page number? (I had to reword some, because the article was awfully close to that source.) - I am in the process of trimming the article, - we don't need all these minor roles three times, once in Vienna, once in Salzburg, once in a roles table. When you see the next such thing, please don't waste time translating the same stuff three times, but trim right away. The word "verkörperte" is awful in German already, but "impersonated" seems worse ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:46, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I usually am "satisfied" when a new article has a certain number of refs. (partly out of laziness I admit) and am eager to turn to another article to translate. Sometimes, I simply forget to have a look at Riemans and all. Now, things have much improved from the time you started mentioning this issue and I very rarely miss to have a look at the Grosses Sängerlexikon. But stuff happens nonetheless. I came here to mention that I have added a couple of points to Talk:Leo Haas. However on reading this page I wish to make another comment. There is a catch phrase in English "you may think that, but I couldn't possibly comment" said originally by the fictional Francis Urquhart. You may think "Some users should better stay in their stable...", but it is a breach of WP:Civility to post it about a user on any Wikipedia talk page. When you are in dispute with another editor, even if you think they are wrong about content, they can use such statements to take you WP:ANI, for incivility during a content dispute (or save it up for a future case). You will not be able to argue the merits of why your views on the specifics of content if you are temporarily blocked for incivility. I suggest that you strike out the sentence by bracketing the original sentence with this pair <s></s> — PBS (talk) 15:19, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Agree with you. Just, it wasn't your casual user but a troll whose account has been blocked. Trolls don't deserve any respect imho. Thanks for the warning anyway, I've already known from the beginning of my participation here, how this will eventually end up. Other than that, I know the basics of politeness but may sometimes flare up. I fell a victim of a troll and his cohort on the French Wikipedia 5 years ago and I eventually tried to take out my life, resulting in a 4 day stay in a Parisian hospital. A raw nerve had been touched and now I'm even more touchy than I used to be. Now, the secret is over. Yours. LouisAlain (talk) 15:36, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright attribution when translating and copying from German Wikipedia

You may wonder now I ended up looking at two pages you created recently:

It was because both articles appeared in Category:Articles incorporating DNB text without Wikisource reference. They did this because not all the templates {{DNB}} were converted to {{DNB-IDN}}. The text at the top of the category goes into more detail about this issue.

Thanks for reminding me about the template {{DNB-IDN}}. Someone already told me about this issue (maybe was it you ?), I copied the model somewhere and unfortunatly, I lost it. I've copied it again in my list of templates et all.

As with the creation of Leo Haas you did not add inline attribution to the edit summary of Max Kurnik.

If you did copy and translate the articles from German Wikipedia, for copyright reasons, you must add an edit with a edit history comment in both articles stating that you did copy the text (See WP:TFOLWP, a section in the guideline Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia). Not to do so is a breach of the Wikipedia:Copyright policy.

You should go back through any other articles or part of articles that you have created by copying and translating text from other Wikipedia articles, and in future add appropriate copyright to any new articles that you create by copying and translating from other Wikipedia articles. NB as Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia makes clear this also applies to copying text from one English language article to another one.

A edit summary of your translation (here the first edit) should contain "Content in this edit is translated from the existing German Wikipedia article at de:Leo Haas; see its history for attribution." I hope I did understand that correct. Grimes2 (talk) 17:53, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
