Copyright attribution when translating and copying from German Wikipedia (2)
You deleted this question before I could answer

I'm afraid I'm completely lost here. My latest translation is Heinrich de Ahna. Can you show me how it should be, according to your indications ? Tomorrow will be de:Marienkirche (Prenzlau). Same question. LouisAlain (talk) 20:33, 11 February 2021 (UTC) |
- It is not my understanding. It is part of the Wikipedia requirements for copyright policy. How to meet those requirements can be found in the guideline Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
- Not only is it a breach of copyright, it is also plagiarism as you are not giving credit where credit is due to the Wikipedia editors/authors of the work you are translating. See the article on plagiarism and the guidance for editors in WP:plagiarism.
- You asked for an example for the article Heinrich de Ahna. user:Grimes2 provided one with the revision as of 12:53, 12 February 2021 (diff)
- So far I have been discussing this with my experienced editor hat on. I can not tell if your failure to understand the guidence a genuine language problem, or you are being deliberately objuse, so I am now metaphorically putting on my administrator's hat:
- If you create an new article by copying the text from other Wikipedia articles, you must provide the information as described in WP:TFOLWP. If you continue to create articles without adequate attribution I will initiate a conversation on Wikipedia:Copyright problems and then (unless there is consensus not to do so) foĺlow through with a Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigation. As you ought to already know, deleting this warning will be taken as proof that you have read it and understood it (WP:OWNTALK).
- If you still require help understanding what you must to to meet copyright requirements, then ask here and wait until you do before creating any more articles.

Well done! I see from your edit history you have created two new articles with nearly adequate attribution:
- 17:33, 12 February 2021 diff hist +5,801 N Udo Mainzer "Content in this edit is translated from the existing German Wikipedia article at de:Udo Mainzer; see its history for attribution."
- 18:01, 12 February 2021 diff hist +6,581 N Matthias Untermann "Content in this edit is translated from the existing German Wikipedia article at de:Matthias Untermann; see its history for attribution."
All you need to do if you create a new article is to add an interwiki link in the attribution you are providing.
- Instead of "at de:Matthias Untermann ..."
- Use "at de:Matthias Untermann ..." — which is created using
at [[:de:Matthias Untermann]]
NB note the leading colon ":" which is needed (see Help:Interlanguage links).
