Can we use the IEEE summary description?[edit]

It's short, to the point of the article, clearly attributed, and does not hurt the value of the magazine, so I think it should be allowed in the same manner as a low-res cover picture. If there is a specific reason this seems like not fair use, please help me out and discuss here, since I commonly include quotes to indicate a view is not original research... I dunno . . . In this case, it's about 40% of the entire article. Can it be paraphrased? That would moot the issue. -- But|seriously|folks  08:21, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A plea for a cleanup and rewrite[edit]

I'm an editor at IEEE Spectrum: there's a lot of stuff that's factually incorrect here, so as per Wikipedia guidelines I'm making a plea for some edits. In particular, article submission to IEEE Spectrum is not open access. Individuals and corporations do not have the right to post their IEEE-copyrighted materials on their own servers without express permission. And while we do have a peer review process for our feature articles, news and other articles are not peer reviewed. Also the statement "Additional content is gleaned from several hundred annual international conferences," is misleading: we do attend many conferences over the course of the year, but not several hundred of them. We use a mix of freelance and expert authors alongside staff-written pieces. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.68.141.58 (talk) 00:26, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
