Why We Assume Good Faith

Since we tend to see ourselves primarily in the light of our intentions, which are invisible to others, while we see others mainly in the light of their actions, which are visible to us, we have a situation in which misunderstanding and injustice are the order of the day

- J.G. Bennett The Crisis in Human Affairs

My Admin policy

I trust that my fellow admins' actions are done for the good of Wikipedia. So if any of my admin actions are overturned I will not consider such an action to be a "Wheel War", but rather an attempt to improve Wikipedia. If I disagree with your action, I will try to discuss it with you or with the admin community, but I absolve you in advance of any presumption of acting improperly. We should all extend the same benefit of the doubt to our fellow admins, until they repeatedly prove that they are unworthy of such a presumption. - (Wording by NoSeptember)

A Place for Everything

Here are some options if your contribution has been deleted from Wikipedia for failing to meet our inclusion criteria.

Some of these (especially the externally linked ones) are new or fairly inactive projects which may or may not stand the test of time. Try your favorite search engine for others.

WikiDefinitions

  • wiki-editor - One who modifies wiki pages in any manner which is not blatant vandalism or spam.
  • wiki-admin - One who has access to the technical tools needed to protect and delete pages, and block disruptive users. Typically admins use these tools to perform maintenance and housekeeping tasks such as AfD, Speedy Deletes, and thwarting vandals and spammers via blocking & protection of pages. Admins are editors as well, but admin tools are not usually needed for editing tasks.
  • wiki-spam - It is more complicated than just advertising. If I had to pick a term other than "spam" to describe the phenomenon, that term would be promotion. Often, but not always "self-promotion" involving a conflict of interest. When it involves external links; sometimes editors - especially new editors, think a site is good & want to share. This falls more towards WP:EL, and draws in elements of Wikipedia is not a directory.. but can also be seen as wiki-spam. I was thinking "(Subject|Self|Site)-Promotion-And-Marketing" might be an appropriate descriptive backronym. An interesting case of non-wiki spam can be seen here, it's certainly not cheap to do this sort of spamming and may get you in trouble with assorted patent offices... but I think we can now safely say, spammers are everywhere.
