This course discusses "International Development" as an historical concept, an active process, and a set of ideas.

Throughout the class students look at how the idea of development has changed and who the key stakeholders are. Students also look at particular case studies of development projects in action. This course uses a critical lens to understand how the project of development - as an endeavor meant to address human suffering - has historically failed and succeeded.

For their project I would like students to pick a country listed as a "less" or "least" developed country according to the United Nations. I would then like students to contribute to this countries page by adding a section on development initiatives in any area covered by one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sustainable_Development_Goals
For example: "Education in Eritrea" or "Water in Nepal" or "Gender Equality in Yemen" etc...
