This month's administrator confirmations[edit]

Last month, two Wikisource administrators were up for confirmation. This April, three are— Hesperian (talkcontribs); Beeswaxcandle (talkcontribs), and BD2412 (talkcontribs). Anyone can participate in the confirmation discussions.

Collaboration report: WikiProject Chinese[edit]

WikiProject Chinese is a small project founded in 2016 which focuses on (in their words) "English texts related to China which include a large number of Chinese terms, or sometimes whole extracts in Chinese." Of course, fully-Chinese texts are held at Chinese Wikisource, a project home to 455,316 pages.

The project, founded by Koxinga (talkcontribs), has several works-in-progress, ranging from culture to language to law in their topics. One such text is Synoptical studies in the Chinese character (transcription project), which project participants started work on in 2010. The Dictionary of the Swatow dialect (transcription project) also deserves mention; thanks to Assassas77 (talkcontribs) and many others for their work there.

Category:Pages with missing Chinese characters currently has a small backlog of 14 pages. If you're one of the 50+ users who can read Chinese, why not lend a hand?

Miscellaneous[edit]

  • There is a proposal at the Scriptorium to make changes to the {{SIC}} template.
  • Vector 2022 will be rolled-out as the default skin on on this project on April 3rd. Logged-in editors still have the option to choose their preferred skin in their preferences.
  • A gadget to automatically empty pages marked as "Without text" is now available in beta in Preferences.
  • The broken Special:Book page has been removed from all Wikisources after discussion on Phabricatior. According to the Phabricator report, it was redundant to the newer tool WS Export. This does not affect readers' ability to download books.
  • There is an ongoing effort to replace unsourced versions of Emily Dickinson's poems with scan-backed versions from books; i.e. Poems (Dickinson) and Poems: Second Series (Dickinson).
