Pronoun[edit]

𒂷 (g̃e₂₆ /g̃e/) (before genitive, dative, comitative markers 𒂷 (g̃a₂ /g̃a/) or 𒂷𒀀 (g̃a₂-a /g̃a/))

  1. I (first-person independent personal pronoun)
Usage notes[edit]
  • 𒂷 (g̃e₂₆ /g̃e/) becomes 𒂷 (g̃a₂ /g̃a/) when followed by a case marker that contains the vowel /a/, i.e. genitive /ak/, dative /ra/, or comitative case /da/. Since the sign 𒂷 can be read both ways, sometimes scribes added 𒂊 (e) or 𒀀 (a) to disambiguate the spelling, e.g.:
    𒂷𒀀𒄰g̃e₂₆-a-kam /akam/ ― He is mine.
  • The final vowel /e/ becomes /ē/ before the enclitic copula, and it is often indicated by the plene spelling, e.g.:
    𒂷𒂊𒈨g̃e₂₆-e-me /ēmen/ ― I, myself
