Romanian[edit]

Alternative forms[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Latin rapidus. The ending of -e was probably a later change in declension within Romanian, though some have tried to explain it with a Latin root *rapidis (only a rarely used regional western Transylvanian variant, rapăd, kept the original form). Doublet of rapid.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • (adjective, adverb) IPA(key): /ˈre.pe.de/
  • (verb) IPA(key): /reˈpe.de/

  • Rhymes: -epede, -ede
  • Hyphenation: re‧pe‧de
