Syrian star Assala to perform at Cairo Opera House during Arab Music Festival

Syrian star Assala Nasri will perform a concert at the Cairo Opera House’s Fountain Theater on 14 November, amid the 30th Arab Music Festival and Conference.

Conducted by Mostafa Helmy, Assala's concert is expected to feature songs from her flourishing three-decade-long career like Ana Hobbek, 60 Deea Hayah, Khanet El-Zekrayat, Habbet Zorouf, Bent Akaber and other originals, as well as few covers.

Born in 1969 in Damascus, Assala's career has been rejuvenated continually, bringing her recognition and a large fan base that spans across generations and the Arab region.

Dedicated to late legendary musicians Abdo Dagher and Gamal Salama, this edition of the Arab Music Festival is being held from 1 to 15 November at six theatres in Cairo, Alexandria and Beheira. The prestigious event will host 33 concerts by over 100 artists from 10 Arab countries, including Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Tunisia, Palestine, Jordan and Oman.

Arab stars performing on the same stage this year include; Moroccan Samira Said (2 November) and Jannat (12 November), Egyptian Mai Farouk (3 November), Medhat Saleh (4 November), Omar Khairat (9 November), Ali El Haggar (10 November) and Hany Shaker (11 November), Lebanese Assi El Hallani (5 November), Wael Jassar (6 November) and Marwan Khoury (8 November) and Tunisian Saber Rebai (13 November), among other stars.

The festival will conclude on 15 November with a concert by Lebanese star Majida El-Roumi, conducted by Egyptian acclaimed Nader Abbassi.
