Renowned Egyptian political researcher Hani Raslan dies from COVID-19
Renowned Egyptian political researcher and expert in African affairs Hani Raslan died on Saturday due to COVID-19 complications.
Raslan, an advisor to Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies (ACPSS), was one of Egypt and the Arab world’s top experts in African affairs.
Born in Khartoum, Raslan was the founder and ex-head of Sudan and Nile Basin Unit in ACPSS. He also served as editor-in-chief of the center's "Egyptian Vision" magazine.
Raslan was admitted to hospital a week ago after contracting coronavirus. According to his colleagues and family members on Facebook, his condition deteriorated as he suffered already from kidney problems.
