Egypt's defence minister discusses national security situation with parliament committee

For their part, the committee members hailed efforts exerted by the Armed Forces to secure the home front and confront threats.

Egypt’s Minister of Defence and Military Production Mohamed Zaki met on Monday with members of the House of Representatives' Defence and National Security Committee to discuss the national security threats facing the country amid regional and international developments.

The defence minister told MPs that the Armed Forces is keen on maintaining communication with the committee on all issues related to national security, and that the military is prepared to carry out tasks assigned to them to protect the homeland against any harm.

For their part, the committee members hailed efforts exerted by the Armed Forces to secure the home front and confront threats.

They also praised the Armed Forces' role in the country’s development process in light of intensive efforts by the political leadership on the domestic and foreign fronts, which has resulted in the restoration of Egypt's pioneering role in the region.
