Beijing said Saturday that charges against Huawei's Meng Wanzhou were made-up and "political persecution", as the Chinese telecoms giant executive headed home from Canada after an extradition trial that spanned several years.
"The so-called 'fraud' allegation against Meng Wanzhou is totally fabricated," ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said, according to state broadcaster CCTV.
