A ceremony will be held on Tuesday afternoon at the Tharwat Okasha Cultural Centre, led by Egyptian Culture Minister Ines Abdel-Dayem, to honour the makers of the film 'Reesh' (‘Feathers’), the debut feature by director Omar El-Zohairy, after its triumph in Cannes.

Feathers premiered in Paris in mid-July, winning the Critics' Week Grand Prize (Semaine de la Critique) as well as the International Federation of Film Critics Award for best first feature in parallel sections at the 74th Cannes Film Festival.

The ceremony honouring the filmmakers, organised by the National Cinema Centre under the helm of writer Mohamed El-Basosy, will be open to public attendees, where the director and most of the crew will attend, including producers Mohamed Hefzy and Shahinaz El-Akkad, as well as DOP Kamal Samy and editor Hisham Saqr.

The celebration will also include the presence of Feathers’ cast of rising talents, which includes Demyana Nassar, Samy Bassouny, Fady Mina Fawzy, Abu Sefen Nabil Wesa, and Mohamed Abdel-Hady.

The first representation for Egypt at the Semaine de la Critique, Feathers is a 112-minute Arabic-language film that explores the adventures of a mother who is stuck in a repetitive daily routine when a magician mistakenly turns her strict husband into a chicken, forcing her to adapt while going through a rough and absurd transformation.

Feathers will be premiering in Egypt in October as part of its participation in the Gouna Film Festival's fifth edition, which is scheduled for 14 to 22 October.
