Egyptian referee Amin Omar was assigned by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) on Sunday to take charge of Monday's Cairo derby between Ahly and Zamalek.
International official Mahmoud Ashour will be the Video Assistant Referee, with Mahmoud Bassiouni as an assistant.
Omar, 36, started his career in the Egyptian Premier League in 2013.
The EFA broke away with the tradition of appointing foreign referees for the derby despite objections from Ahly and Zamalek, who both agreed that it would be better not to change course as tensions rise.
The last derby was officiated by Egyptian international referee Mahmoud El-Banna when Ahly defeated Zamalek 2-1 at Cairo stadium last month.
El-Banna was praised by EFA officials following a composed performance in a match devoid of any glaring refereeing errors.
Zamalek are on the top of the league table with 44 points, four ahead of second-placed Ahly, who have two matches in hand.
